Richard “Dick” Matthew Farrelly, age 85, of Darlington, PA, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025 with his daughter and cherished neighbors by his side. He was born in Beaver Falls, PA on January 24, 1940 and was the son of the late Joseph Paul and Alice Regina Heitzman Farrelly. He was the husband of the late Elaine Ruth Gotthardt Farrelly, who passed away on June 8, 2009. Richard was a 1958 graduate of Beaver Falls High School and later retired as a foreman from Babcox & Wilcox (B&W) Steel Operations. He was an avid golfer and loved watching all sports, especially baseball, football, and golf. He was a football coach for the Northwest Little Cougars Midget football team. Richard was also well known for being a member of the football chain crew, more commonly known as the “chain gang”, for the Northwestern and Blackhawk High Schools. He was a simple man who lived a simple life. Richard loved his family and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his daughter, Paula A. (Chad A.) DeVore of Oldsmar, FL; grandchildren, Joshua Castrucci; Dominic (Monica) Farrelly; Mia (Collin) McCune; great-grandchildren, Miles; Margot; Cameron; Lena, Liam; siblings, Paul (the late Laura) Farrelly of League City, TX; David (Carol) Farrelly of Little Egg Harbor Twp., NJ; Cathy (John) Pidorenko of North Venice, FL; Phyllis (Kendall) Stiles of Englewood, FL; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents and wife, Richard was preceded in death by his son, Scott Matthew Farrelly, who passed away on March 20, 2025.
The family would like to thank everyone who cared for Richard, including his cherished neighbors, family friends, and all the staff at Good Samaritan Hospice, and Concordia.
A burial took place next to his beloved wife at Grandview Cemetery in Beaver Falls, PA. Arrangements were cared for by Campbell’s Chippewa Funeral Home, Inc., 2618 Darlington Road, Beaver Falls, PA 15010 (Randy R. Wheeler, supervisor, 724-843-2500).
