Linda Wehrle, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025 in Muncie, surrounded by her family.
Linda was the heart and soul of her family. She loved them fiercely, never missing an opportunity to remind them that she "loves them more." Known for her kindness and unwavering loyalty, she was everyone's biggest cheerleader, always uplifting those around her with her eternal positive outlook. A woman of resilience, she lived by example, rising above challenges with grace and determination, inspiring others to keep going no matter what life brought. She never gave up on anyone, or anything.
Her joy was infectious, especially at family gatherings that included her amazing food and ended with music and dancing. Those who know Linda knew her love for Elvis! She inspired a love for music among all her kids and grandkids. The Saturday night sing-a-longs were the best. Even more special was sharing this love with her best friend and buddy, Sharyn. The two of them had many adventures; they knew how to have fun and not take life too seriously. Sharyn was her sister and partner in crime.
Linda loved to cook for her family and friends. She welcomed everyone in her home with open arms and a place at her table. She gave the gift of time to everyone, along with a shoulder to lean on, a hand to hold, a hug or just the space to sit in silence with someone who cared. Her laughter and energy lit up the room. She was the center of her family's universe, leaving behind a legacy of love for all, strength, perseverance, and devotion.
She is survived by loving husband of 61 years, George; her children, Kathy (Eric) Gregory, Jennifer (Fred) Kilbry, Kerry (Rod) Russell, and Michael Wehrle; her grandchildren, Jacob (Kelsie) Gregory, Paige Gregory (fiancé Casper), Andrew (Jeanna) Kilbry, Rachel (Ryan) Hooker, Alicia Kilbry, Jamie Faust and Phoebe Brothers; and her great-grandchildren, Copeland and Parker Gregory, Kilian Koert, Everett and Luna Hooker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ellen Doughty, brothers, Fred and Robert Doughty, and sister, Sari Doughty.
Linda's family will be having a private celebration of life.
Donations can be made on Linda's behalf to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation at give.bcrf.org.
