Linda Carol West Wright, age 63, of Hamilton, Alabama, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, July 18, 2024. She is preceded in death by her parents, Don and Joyce West. She is survived by her daughters, Taylor Wright Newman (Michael) and Bailey Wright Chacon (Johnny), grandchildren, Bo Newman, Benson, Joanna, and Judson Chacon, as well as her sisters Donna West McPheeters, Susie West Mattox (Tucker), and her brother, Neil West.
A celebration of Linda's life will be held on Sunday, July 21 at First Baptist Church in Hamilton, Alabama. The service will begin at 2:00, with a time of fellowship to follow.
Linda was born in Russellville, Alabama on February 7, 1961. She graduated from Hamilton High School in 1979, and attended Mississippi College, where she was a cheerleader. She graduated from Mississippi College in 1983, where she earned a degree in business management. She later pursued a nursing degree at the University of North Alabama. She graduated in 1999, and she worked as a Registered Nurse for twenty-one years, most of those years spent caring for patients in the intensive care unit.
She loved animals, coffee, and Auburn football. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hamilton. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, or Lala, as she was affectionately referred to by her four grandchildren. Her daughters and grandchildren were her pride and joy. Linda truly had a heart for caring for others. She spent many years volunteering at Children's of Alabama and serving with West Alabama's Alcoholics Anonymous. Much of her heart belonged to the people of Kenya, where she traveled on multiple occasions to serve as a nurse and to spread the love of Christ.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Jesus Harvesters Ministries to spread the good news of Christ throughout East Africa.
"The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." - Luke 10:2
