Linda Marie Schley Yaun, age 77, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, left this world to be with Jesus January 17, 2025. She was born September 24, 1947, in Baltimore, Maryland to Edith and Oliver H. Schley, Jr. The firstborn of six siblings, she was her parents' blond-haired, blue-eyed princess. Her brother, Skip, would tell you that she was spoiled rotten, and Linda confirmed that she continued to be throughout her life. Linda was a para-professional and librarian at West DeFuniak Elementary School until her retirement, and a former realtor at Lake DeFuniak Realty, Inc. Some of her favorite activities were fishing with her husband Cleve, shopping with her sisters and sister-in-law, and going on sister trips exploring botanical gardens and tourist sites. She loved her flower gardens that Cleve tended to, bird houses, and watching the clouds pass by.
Her greatest delight in later years was world travel. Extensive cruises took her all over Europe, China, the Middle East, Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, Mexico and the Caribbean. She admired fine jewelry that she often purchased on her travels. Conversations with her granddaughter, Mercedes, were a great joy to her and visits with her grandchildren, Matthew, and Kristen, afforded her many happy memories.
In recent years, she cherished time spent with her great niece, Ansley, and attending the many beauty contests that Ansley competed in and won. Throughout her life, brothers, Skip and Oliver, were a constant help with tasks that required a man's expertise.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 43 years, Cleve Otis Yaun.
Her surviving relatives include her son, Kenneth B Reynolds III; stepsons, Randy Yaun (Laura), and Brian Yaun (Laurie); two brothers, Skip and Oliver Schley; three sisters, Patricia Burgess (Mike), Debbie Sconiers (Tim), and Luann Schley; sister-in-law, Clyde Marie Cronin; granddaughters, Mercedes Reynolds and Kristen Yaun; grandson, Matthew Yaun; and many nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Davis-Watkins Funeral Home, 1474 State Highway 83 North, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32433, beginning at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Eric Bryan officiating. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to her church, First Assembly of God, DeFuniak Springs or to the church of your choice.
Arrangements and services are under the direction of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home of DeFuniak Springs.
