Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Linda V. Zapata, entered eternal rest
on December 12, 2023, at the age of 72. She was born in San Antonio, Texas to Joe Valdez and
Virginia Del Rio on September 24, 1951.
Linda was such a sweet spirit. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and a devoted wife. Her
family, children, and grandchildren were everything to her; they were her pride and joy. She was
the mother that always blessed her daughters and grandchildren with her presence; from football
games, to cheerleading, to other sporting events, she always wanted to be a part of and was
honored to show her love and support.
Linda's heart was full of gold; she knew no strangers. She would take anyone in, and they
always called her "their grannie." In her spare time, she genuinely enjoyed traveling; the Coast
was her all-time favorite pick because she loved the beach. She also loved to go fishing; take
shopping trips with her sister JoAnne, spending time with her grandkids, or watching a great
game of football as the Green Bay Packers were her favorite team.
Linda met and married the love of her life, Joseph Zapata. After three years of dating, they
married on November 18, 1971. The two shared a beautiful union of 52 years and raised two
beautiful daughters together. She will be deeply missed by her family and close friends.
She leaves in her memory, her beloved husband: Joseph R. Zapata, her daughters: Jennifer Jeitz
(Jason Jeitz); Roxanne Ruks; Six grandchildren: Kirsten and Kasen Jeitz, Gavin Ruks (Angelina
Roldan), Claire Ruks, and Brooke Noyola; all of whom affectionately called her "Grannie"; her
brothers: Richard (Judy) Valdez, Henry (Belen) Valdez, and Michael Valdez; her sister: JoAnne
(James) Tristan and numerous other close relatives and friends. When Linda entered the gates of
heaven, she greeted her parents.
