Linda Arline Dewey was born August 13, 1948 in Marshalltown, Iowa. She was the third of four children born to Edward and Wanda (Essen) Dewey. In her younger years, Linda grew up in Conrad, Iowa and her family moved to Garwin. She attended Garwin High School where she would graduate with the class of 1966.
It was in school that Linda met Vernon Zmolek. The two were high school sweethearts and on October 22, 1966, they tied the knot and were united in marriage at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Garwin, Iowa. Together they made their home in Garwin and began a family raising their daughter Marsha. Linda was a hard worker and spent 43 years working for L.E. Myers Electrical Company of Marshalltown and was the smiling face and lead secretary of their office. She retired from the company in 2013.
In her free time, Linda was best known for her ability to put everybody else's needs above her own. She knew how to give to others in need and enjoyed cooking. Her most memorable dish was her cherry cheesecake around the Christmas holiday. She loved spending time socializing with her family and friends as well as watching many cooking shows on tv.
Linda is survived by her husband of 57 years, Vernon Zmolek; her daughter, Marsha (Mike) Gaskill; her grandson, Steven Gaskill; and her sister Patty (Gary) Lukehart.
In eternal life, she is reunited with her parents, Edward and Wanda Dewey; her siblings, Robert Dewey and Juanita Clark; and her paternal and maternal grandparents.
