Lindbergh (Lindy) Jones

November 25, 1929 – November 26,2025

Lindbergh (Lindy) Jones, age 96, of Covington passed away on November 26, 2025. He was born in Cherokee County, AL on November 25, 1929 to the late Shelton A. Jones and the late Lottie Mitchell Jones. He was predeceased by his brother, the late William E. (Gene) Jones and sister-in-law, the late Nellie M. Jones.

Lindy is survived by his wife, Lounell R. Jones of Covington; daughter, Kaye Jones Carter (Larry) of Atlanta; and son, Michael Wade Jones of Social Circle. Also surviving are grandchildren: Luke Jones (Sarah) of Sandy Springs, Lindsey Jackson (Phillip) of Charlotte, NC, Jackson Carter (Ashley) of Little River, SC, Levi Jones (Courtney) of Locust Grove, Laura Grace Jones of Kennesaw, and great granddaughters: Lounell Ray Jones and Willa Jones.

Lindy graduated from Gaylesville High School in Alabama, attended Georgia State University and graduated from Coyne Electrical Engineering School in Chicago. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952 during the Korean War as a part of the 15th Infantry Regiment, Third Division. He retired from AT&T after 36 years service in Operations and Engineering - Long Lines.

He lived in the Conyers area for many years where he raised his family and served in community activities as a member of the Elks Club, Lions Club, VFW and the American Legion. Lindy and his wife moved to Social Circle in 1993 where he was active in the First Baptist Church of Social Circle as a deacon and served on many committees including the construction of the Education Annex of the church.

Lindy's legacy is one of love, generosity and unwavering dedication to his wife, family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and growing and sharing vegetables, fruits and flowers.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 13 at the First Baptist Church of Social Circle and visitation with the family will be held the hour prior. In lieu of flowers, a love offering may be given to First Baptist of Social Circle.
