Lindsey Diann Kerns, a cherished mother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away on February 21, 2025, in her hometown of McAlester, Oklahoma. Born on September 2, 1983, to proud parents Danny Ray Kerns and Kathy Diann (Lott) Kerns, Lindsey's kind-hearted nature and generous spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.
Lindsey attended McAlester High School, where she formed many lasting friendships. She later earned her G.E.D., demonstrating her determination and resilience. Lindsey's nurturing spirit led her to work as a nurse's aide and cook, where she provided care and comfort to many. Her work was more than a job; it was a reflection of her innate desire to help others.
Above all, Lindsey's children were the center of her universe. She is survived by her loving children: Jacob Kerns-Kirk and his wife Nikole, Kamdyn Kerns, Karlee Kirk, and Macelee Barker. She was a doting grandmother to Delilah Kerns and Presli Benson, who will miss her warmth and guidance. Her legacy continues through her devoted parents, Danny and Kathy Kerns, her brother Joe Kerns, her niece, Kayla Campana and husband, Peyton, and her nephew Hayden Kerns and his wife Brittany. Lindsey's life was enriched by the joy of her great-nieces and great-nephews: Baylor, Bryar, Coy, Kaison, Kaylee, and Kolten. Her maternal grandmother, Oleta Lott, and her aunts and uncles: Kim Lewis, Richard Lott and his wife Mary, Paula Kerns, Mary Foutch and husband, Van, and Jean Kerns, also survive her.
Lindsey was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Ray Kerns, her paternal grandparents, Reece and Ruth Kerns, her maternal grandfather, George Lott, and her uncles: Dwayne Kerns, and Jay Lewis.
Those who knew Lindsey were touched by her kind-hearted nature. She was a favorite aunt, a friend to many, and a light to those who knew of her struggles. Her courage in the face of adversity and her unwavering love for her children were sources of inspiration to many.
In the words of Helen Keller, "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Lindsey's love has indeed become a part of us, and her memory will continue to inspire and guide us.
May we honor her legacy by extending the same kindness and love that she so freely gave to others. Lindsey Diann Kerns, a cherished soul, will be profoundly missed, but her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2025 at the Chaney Harkins Funeral Home Chapel.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at the Chaney Harkins Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Brian Smith officiating. The burial will follow at Ulan Cemetery, Pittsburg County, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Kerns, Zachary Kerns, Jacob Kerns-Kirk, Joe Kerns, Kamdyn Kerns, Hayden Kerns, and Jason Kirk.
