Obituary published on Legacy.com by Goes Funeral Care & Crematory - Fort Collins on Feb. 5, 2024.
Lindsey Jean Power was tragically taken far too soon from this world on January 29, 2024, at the age of 39. She was a vibrant soul who was cherished by all who knew her. Lindsey, who lived in Fort Collins for her entire life, was filled with passion, resilience, and kindness.
Lindsey was born on May 14, 1984, in
Fort Collins, Colorado, to Mike Power and Kathi Power. Her big sister, Amelia Power, was very excited to welcome her baby sister into the family home in Laporte. The two girls spent their early childhood exploring the family property and taking care of chickens, cows, a goat, and a llama. The family also spent lots of time and holidays with Mike's sister's family, the Gulleys (Jim, Jan, Beth, and Jamie), who continued to be a large and caring part of Lindsey's life until her death. Lindsey had bright red hair as a little girl and a spunky and adventurous personality to match – she broke her arm on three separate occasions before she was 16.
Lindsey's parents divorced in 1988 and the "Power Ladies" (Kathi, Amelia, and Lindsey) moved to south Ft. Collins, eventually building a home on Stream Court. Lindsey attended Lopez Elementary and was very close to the other kids on the street. In particular, she was beloved by the Fitzgerald family who lived next door. Lindsey loved taking dance (mostly jazz and some ballet) and was an enthusiastic gymnast. She was known for walking on her hands and doing handstands with ease. Lindsey attended Webber Junior High and graduated from Rocky Mountain High School in 2002. While still at Rocky, Lindsey began working as a grocery clerk at the old Albertson's on Horsetooth. She quickly rose through the ranks and was named one of the youngest employees ever to become a manager.
A devoted Rams Fan, Lindsey attended CSU for one year studying business and accounting. In 2007 she began her banking career at US Bank as a teller. Lindsey's excellent work ethic was once again quickly recognized. She was promoted several times, achieving the level of Small Business Specialist after only 10 years of service. In 2017, Lindsey moved to Bank of Colorado to become a Credit Analyst and eventually a Commercial Loan Officer. In July 2023, Lindsey transitioned to Elevations Credit Union as a Senior Business Banking Relationship Manager; a position that was meant for her and her unique talents. Lindsey was very excited to join the Elevations team and to build on her already stunning success in the banking industry.
In addition to her work history, Lindsey was a longtime member of the Fort Collins Fast Track chapter of BNI, serving most recently as a past Chapter President, Mentor Coordinator and Chapter Success Coach. Lindsey was also a member, and then President, of the NoCo Firestorm chapter and had recently been appointed to the Board of the Northern Colorado Homebuilders Association. Lindsey was also a member of the Northern Colorado CREW where she supported the empowerment of women in the commercial real estate industry. Lindsey loved to talk to people and get to genuinely know them and their unique stories, which contributed to her large network and success in her career.
When not working, Lindsey enjoyed bowling (she owned her own bowling ball and shoes), playing pool (particularly at the old Coopersmith's Poolside), travelling to Mexico and Central America, painting and crafting. Her bright red hair eventually turned a beautiful copper auburn and anyone who knew her would remember her lovely curly hair. In 2019, Lindsey decided to challenge herself and became very focused on fitness. She worked extremely hard changing her physique and pushed herself to enter the 2021 Colorado State Fitness Competition. True to form, she once again excelled and placed 3rd in the True Novice category and 4th in the Novice category. Lindsey had made it a goal in 2024 to recommit to her fitness and participate in another competition later that year.
Lindsey was also a huge support for her mother Kathi, who retired from Harmony Presbyterian Church in 2016 and moved into the home next door to Lindsey. Lindsey and Kathi would often have dinner and garden together. A favorite memory was when Lindsey and her sister Amelia, who lives in Denver with her husband and two children, celebrated Kathi's 70th birthday. The "Power Ladies" enjoyed manicures, a nostalgic drive around Fort Collins, lunch on the deck followed by a surprise photo shoot! When Kathi passed away on January 18, 2024, it was a severe blow to both sisters.
Though the dark themes of domestic abuse and gun violence surround her untimely and tragic death, the true light that Lindsey brought to this world will never be extinguished. It is a reoccurring declaration by those who knew her well, as well as acquaintances; every person who met Lindsey is better for having known her.
When she thought about a person, she called them. When she said she would be there, she always was. She loved her family, her friends, and her work with immense dedication and passion.
A celebration of life to honor and remember Lindsey will be on February 24, 2024, between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m., at the Fort Collins Senior Center (1200 Raintree Drive,
Fort Collins, Colorado 80526). Remarks by close family and a few of Lindsey's community will begin at 2:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Lindsey's family has chosen pink and purple butterflies as a symbol of Lindsey's beauty and light-hearted nature. Lindsey was known for her love of bright colors and for her neon manicures – if you would like, please reflect this bright disposition and butterflies in your choice of clothing or accessory at the celebration.
