Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kernan Funeral Service on Nov. 18, 2025.
Linell was born on December 20, 1940, in Camden Arkansas to the late Lee Herman and Elree Green. She was the oldest girl out of 6 children. She attended school in Camden, Arkansas. She was affectionately called "Nell" or "Mama Bragg."
On March 4, 1958, Linell married Hosea Bragg (who proceeded her in death). Together they raised 8 children and were married for 53 years.
Linell was a very loving and caring person, and she loved taking care of others. She and her husband cared for her siblings as if they were their own children. Her baby sister, Merlin, always referred to her as "mom". Her sisters-in-law on both sides of her family referred to her as a sister, and her nieces and nephews always lovingly called her "Aunt Nell". She worked as a lunch aide in the Ecorse School System and at Midwest Camera Repair.
Linell loved people. She was a kind, mild-tempered, and generous person. She loved to watch her game shows, her favorite movies, and dressing up from head to toe, which included her signature hats to match.
She was always involved in the community. She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in the Ecorse Congregation in 1970. She taught her children Bible truths and shared these truths with her family, her neighbors, and those she would meet in her ministry. She later attended the Wyandotte Congregation where she made many more friends.
She loved Jehovah and set a fine example as a wife and mother who taught her children to also love Jehovah and to use their lives in service to him. She always encouraged prayers to Jehovah in any situation, and she let them know that she was always there for them.
Linell loved to cook and eat, and her brother James would always tease her about it. Her children said she was a short order cook. At night they would place cards on the table as to what they wanted for breakfast, and everyone would have exactly what they wanted. And at dinner, they always had some kind of dessert. She was famous for her hot water cornbread, sweet potato pie, chocolate pie, fried chicken, and homemade biscuits. She would feed anyone, even the neighborhood children She would tell people who were close to her that "she loved them more than sweet potato pie."
She will truly be missed by all those who loved her and all those she loved in return.
Linell was proceeded in death by her husband of 53 years (Hosea), her brothers Ivory, James, Charles and Herman, daughters Denise and Wanda, son Rodney, and grandchildren Willie Hopkins and Walter Cheatham.
She leaves to cherish her memories to her children Bettie (Donald) Stewart, Linda (Ricardo) Way, Brenda Bragg, Hosea (Millicent) Bragg, Valerie Bragg, Myra (Dana) Parker, Lisa Bragg, and Nakia (Sequina) Bragg; her adopted children Marie Jones and Celia Stringfield; her two sisters Lillian Gardner, Merlin Lewis and precious sister and friend Ethel ("KittV") Burns; her grandchildren Toyra (Elvin) Howard, Brandon (Denisha) Way, Erica (Omari) Cannon, Ashley, Juan, Charlie, Michael, and Mark Turner, Camryn Bragg, Sade Landcaster, William and Marquis Coleman, Melvin (Delonda) Jones, Lequanna Jones, Anthony (Nikki) Jones and Austin Hart, and 21 great grandchildren. Her long-time friends and sisters in the truth Phyllis Bradley, Judy Smith, Veronica ("Ronnie") Otis, Dorothy Williams and Kim Batte. Her pioneer partner and spiritual son Anthony Williams as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
