Linn Conrad, 54, of Lago Vista, Texas, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025, in her home after a long battle with brain cancer and its treatment. Though brain cancer took much from her, Linn never lost her kindness, grace, compassion, or her deep love for family and friends. She continued to express gratitude for what she described as a wonderful life until the end.
Linn was born on May 18, 1971, in Fort Worth, Texas, the daughter of the late John Robert Sellers of Alvarado, Texas, and Gayla Sue Chapman of Vernon, Texas. She was raised in Graham, Texas, where she attended Graham High School and played the French horn in the marching band. It was there that she formed some of her deepest, lifelong friendships. Linn was truly a girl of the '80s - she loved her '80s music and never apologized for it. She graduated from Graham High School in 1989 and went on to attend the University of Texas at Austin. During her third year as a math major, she was diagnosed with medulloblastoma brain cancer. After surviving a dangerous surgery and radiation treatment, Linn recovered and went on to complete her Bachelor's Degree in Education with a specialization in mathematics.
Shortly after her recovery, Linn met the love of her life, Darren Conrad, and the two were married on November 11, 1996. Before long, they welcomed two beautiful children, Matthew and Meagan-something Linn had once been told might never be possible after her earlier radiation treatment. Linn was a devoted mother, wife, and homemaker who delighted in raising her children and supporting her family.
After Matthew and Meagan graduated high school in 2018, Linn and Darren moved from McKinney, Texas, to Lago Vista, where she enjoyed the remainder of her life. She loved the sunset and especially loved watching it from her porch. "Porch time" with Darren was her favorite part of every day - time spent sharing memories, talking about life, and laughing as much as possible.
In 2021, brain cancer revisited in the form of a large meningioma tumor, which was removed during a lengthy surgery. Once again, Linn recovered and went on to enjoy four more full years of life in Lago Vista -photographing sunsets, riding rollercoasters, scrapbooking, and cherishing her views of the Hill Country and Lake Travis while soaking in every moment of porch time she could. Linn also enjoyed scrapbooking, cross-stitch, music, and so much more. She was a devoted Texas Longhorn fan and, in 2025, a newly minted Los Angeles Dodgers fan. "Best I Can," by Queensrÿche, was one of her favorite songs about overcoming adversity and making the best of what you have. "Angels," by Amy Grant, was another favorite because she felt so blessed to have the life she had that she believed an angel must be watching over her.
Linn cherished her friendships, building them at each stage of life, and most lasted a lifetime. Once you were loved by Linn, you never wanted to let go. She was the friend you could always count on - the first to offer help and the last to ask for it. If Linn loved you, you knew what unconditional love truly felt like. Her sweet, loving, and innocent soul will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Linn is survived by her husband, Darren Conrad; her son, Matthew Conrad, both of Lago Vista; her daughter, Meagan Conrad of Brooklyn, New York; her sister-in-law, Shelley McNair of Henley, Texas; her niece, Abby McNair of Henley, Texas; her nephew, Morgan McNair of Henley, Texas; and her "soul sister," Kim Ippolito of Mineola, Texas. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Bonnie Wimberly; her grandfather, Ben Wimberly; her mother, Gayla Sue Chapman; her father, John Robert "Bobby" Sellers; her father-in-law, Randy Chapman; and her uncle, Bill Wimberly.
In closing, to quote what Linn bravely said going into her second brain surgery: "See you on the flip side." And we will see her.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Llano City Cemetery. Please join us to celebrate her life. If you would like to share a memory about Linn during the ceremony, the family would be honored to have you speak.
