Linwood Earl Greene, 77, of Fayetteville, peacefully went home to be with his Lord, on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
Born on July 29,1947, in Goldsboro, NC, to Grace Margaret Smith and Robert Greene in Goldsboro, NC. Linwood was a graduate of Anne Chestnut Senior High School, the class of 1967.
Linwood was a charismatic and free-spirited soul. He never met a stranger. His infectious laughter and warm personality drew people to him wherever he went.
Linwood was well rounded. A hardworking and versatile individual, Linwood’s career spanned several fields. His first job was at ECT Corporation Military clothing manufacturing company in 1967-1970 then he worked as a boot shiner on Fort Bragg now Fort Liberty from 1970-1978 later in 1978 he went to work at Kelly Springfield now known as Good Year until he retired. Outside of work, Linwood had a deep passion for cars, particularly enjoying both working on them and watching them drag race. In addition, he loved fishing and landscaping. He was a jack of all trade, master of none.
Linwood was preceded in death by his father, Robert Greene, his sister Cleopatra “Cleo” Shaw, and his only brother, James “Smitty” Smith.
Linwood leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Georgia Greene; his mother, Grace Margaret Greene, age 97, of NC; his son, Linwood Robinson (Dorice) of NC; daughter, Georgette “Linr” Brock-Greene (Isaiah) of SC; daughter, Fanchette Allen of NC; his sister Janet Susan Sallie of NC; six grandchildren, Care'a, Desiree, Linwood Jr., Xavier, Ky’Mani, and DaShawn, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, December 20, 2024, from 5pm to 7 pm at Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service.
Service will be held Saturday, December 21st at noon at Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service.
