Blue.
might be described in Webster's starting with. One's favorite color
But if you added:....words used to describe Lisa D. Bennett? it would likely read
B Beautiful, inside and out
L. Loyal with lots of tenacity, fierce and forthright with an intense Love of family
U Unselfish, undeniably intelligent, articulate, a deep thinker with a kind, big, caring, precious heart
E Exceptional with an Extra dose of Southern Manners
The words used, are words one would use to describe the person we all knew and loved, but it does not represent the message she would leave us with. These were simply a few words used by her family and a lifelong friend and confidant to describe her.
The words she used were " Wife-Daughter-Mother-Gi" and then she added this " God granted me one extra special life-truly blessed". How can you argue with that statement?
Blue. was indeed her favorite color
Blue. could be a word that easily describes the way we feel when one we love slips away from us, slips from this life to the next except
"The next life" is what Lisa would have us focus on, for she is with her "Father" in heaven, free from all pain and any suffering. She would have you embrace Psalm 30 verse 5 "weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning", perhaps in her words, don't be blue for me.
Frances Elise "Lisa" Dees Bennett, of White Springs, FL. passed away on March 15, 2023 at HCA North Florida Regional Hospital in Gainesville. She was born on September 13, 1960 in Jasper, FL. to Francis S. "Buddy" and Martha "Anne" Snell Dees. Buddy and Anne welcomed this baby girl and treasured her for the 62 years God gifted them with her.
Lisa was a lifelong resident of Hamilton County and it is where she met and married the love of her life, Richard D. Bennett. Lisa did not ever shy away from hard work, in fact, she was employed by the State of Florida for over 30 years. She worked for what was known back in the day as Florida Ag Research Center in Live Oak, FL. as well as Hamilton County Correctional Institution, Haven Hospice and Hamilton County School Board (HCHS). Lisa was, as previously described, articulate, intelligent and caring, all of which made her a perfect fit for every position she was ever granted. Fortunately, God permitted her last designated position to be that of "Gi" grandmother to Kennaley and Braylin, and it was a position that suited her to a tee.
In the way we view length of illnesses, hers was one that lasted but a short while. It was not nearly enough time, as is always the case, for her family to accept the idea that she would be leaving them. It was, at Lisa's request and so honored by her family, that she passed from this life to the next with few in the community even knowing about her cancer diagnosis and treatment. She had lived most of her life reserved and quietly and that was how she chose to live out what time she might have left. In the end, she was surrounded by those she loved and trusted to honor her wishes. The family is indeed grateful for the love and support from their extended family and friends and are appreciative of the time granted to grieve these first few precious hours and days in private.
Lisa's family will gather and receive friends on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Harry T. Reid Funeral Home in Jasper, FL. between the hours of 5:00-7:00 p.m.
At her request, she will be laid to rest in private at a later date.
Survivors include her husband Richard D. Bennett; her daughter and son-in-law, Brianna and Anthony Vernon; her parents, Buddy and Anne Dees; her brother, Joe Dees; her two precious grandchildren, Kennaley and Braylin Vernon; her nephew, Wayne Peacock and his wife Tina and their children, Brad and Emily.
