Lisa Elaine Carter, age 51, of Hinckley, IL, passed away peacefully on the morning of Thursday July 24, 2025. She was born on January 19, 1974 in Dekalb, IL, the daughter of Marilyn (Schnorr) and James Carter.

She was united in Marriage to her loving husband Jeff Hultgren on October 31, 2016. Lisa worked for some time in CLAS External Programs and the English Department at Northern Illinois University. In later years she was the Director of Youth Services at the Hinckley Public Library.

Lisa absolutely loved working with children. She loved bike riding and the beach in Florida where she spent time growing up. She loved flowers, hummingbirds, sloths and mermaids. She also loved spending time with her dogs Arya and Autumn and her cats Flora and Iris. She loved to travel and see new things and enjoyed going to concerts. She had a wide taste in music and liked everything from The Ramones, The Offspring & Social Distortion to Cooper Allen and the Chicago Blues and Jazz.

Lisa is survived by her husband Jeff Hultgren, son Preston Johnson, father James Carter, sister Ann (Joey) Douglas, niece Alison Douglas and nephew Mike Douglas, stepchildren Cullin and Stella Hultgren, sister-in-law Julie (Randall) Ermey, and mother-in-law & father-in-law Sally (Bill) Sarafin.

She was preceded in death by her mother Marilyn Carter, grandparents Bertha and Fred Schnorr & Father-in-law Ronald Hultgren.

Visitation will be held at the Healy Chapel, 370 Divison Dr., Sugar Grove, IL 60554 on August 8th from 4-8 PM in Sugar Grove, IL.

In lieu of flowers please send donations (in her name) to the National Pancreas Foundation.
