Lisa Renee (Jenks) Wien

The world has lost a treasure. Lisa Renee Jenks Wien was born in Abingdon, VA on 1/3/1962, the third child of John Paul and Loretta Jenks. She loved her rural childhood as she grew up in Lebanon VA, was truly well loved at Lebanon High School, was voted Most Popular and Best Personality, and was captain of the football cheerleaders. She studied radiology at Southwest Virginia CC and went to University of Virginia to study radiation therapy. She was very bright and cerebral and always a top student. In November 1983 she met Todd Wien, from Falls Church VA, who was in his last year of medical school. A ER graduate from UVA, she worked for a year in Knoxville, TN as a radiation therapist/RT. She married Todd in July 1985 in Lebanon, VA before moving to Augusta, GA to continue RT work, where Todd was in an US Army family practice residency. From 1987 to 1990, Lisa and Todd lived in Bremerhaven, Germany, which allowed them to travel Europe extensively. After they lived in Lawton, OK for a year, Todd left the Army in August 1991 and they started life in Plano, TX. She stopped working as an RT with the birth of Trent in 1994; Alexis came 19 months later in 1995. She was truly a devoted mother and wife. She and Todd were long time members of Grace Presbyterian Church, and then Willow Bend Church in Plano.

Lisa was such a joyful, giving, kind and loving person, yet humble. Her love for Jesus and God was evident to all who knew her. She helped many grow in their faith or come to know Jesus. She had a deep concern for the welfare of others. She befriended the lonely and fought for the underdog. She was a blessing to all who knew her and helped many a friend through tough times. She was so full of life and her smile and eyes radiated joy and sweetness. Her laugh was cute, infec ous and heartwarming. She was a true treasure to her family and friends, and all will miss her light, enthusiasm and how her smile reflected those defining qualities. She loved Jesus, serving others, all sorts of animals, gardening, music, concerts, singing, good movies, holidays, getting together with friends, travel, reading, massages, good food and all kinds of games. She was a great student of the Bible, did years of Bible Study Fellowship and contributed meaningfully to whatever study she was in. She had much passion for what she believed in and was always willing to assist someone in need. She always looked beautiful, exuded class, was full of grace, and possessed a great wit and sense of humor.

Sadly she was diagnosed with advanced primary liver cancer (intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma) in February 2025, but she faced her 8-month cancer battle bravely until the end. She and her family were blessed to travel to Croatia, Vienna/Wien and Salzburg in mid-June to celebrate her 40 years of marriage. By August she really began to be affected by the cancer, but she never feared death because of her strong faith. She will be so greatly missed.

She is survived by Todd, Trent and Alexis Wien, her sister Teresa Nuckles, brother-in-law Ricky Nuckles, brother John Paul/Buzzy Jenks, nephew Shayne Kiser, nieces Beth Jenks and Chelsey Kennedy, who all live near Lebanon, VA. A huge thanks to her lifelong best friend Tammy Skaggs, who arrived when needed most. We cannot understand why this superstar of a person has tragically died too young, when she still had so much love, kindness, light and joy to give to the world. But she is now at peace with her Savior Jesus and reunited with her parents, grandparents and friends. Hers was a life truly well lived. Well done, Lisa!

There will be a Celebration of Life at 6:00 p.m., Saturday October 18, 2025, at Willow Bend Church in Plano, Texas.

A second service will also be held in Lebanon, Virginia in 1-2 weeks. Time TBD
