Lisa Medeiros Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lisa Frances Medeiros, who left this world on January 23, 2025, just two days shy of her 65th birthday. After a courageous two-year battle with ovarian cancer, she passed peacefully, surrounded by love.

Born and raised in New Bedford, Lisa later made a lasting impact in Bristol and East Greenwich RI. She became a beloved member of the community through her work in local school systems, raising her children, and her dedication as a CASA volunteer and catechist at St. Gregory's. In her later years, Lisa pursued her bachelor's degree at Rhode Island College with unwavering determination while working full time and undergoing cancer treatments.

Her professional journey includes sales, brokerage, and administrative roles at Little Harbor and Alden Yachts, Roger Williams University, Providence College, and the Bristol and East Providence public schools. She was a champion of the underdog, always going above and beyond for every student she worked with, and her positivity made her a source of encouragement for her colleagues and the students whose lives she touched.

A woman of faith, Lisa was deeply involved in her church as a communicant at St. Gregory's and living her life as a testament to her strong belief in God. She found solace and joy in nature, spending her days walking her dogs, kayaking, and embracing the beauty of the outdoors.

Lisa will be remembered as a strong, compassionate, fair, optimistic, and loving woman whose warmth and wisdom touched everyone she met. Her legacy of faith, love for her family, and resilience in the face of challenges will continue to inspire those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children, Linsey Trombino and her husband, Todd Trombino, of Exeter, RI, and Chace Medeiros and his wife, Lily Medeiros, of Raleigh, NC, as well as her grandchild, Micah Trombino. She also leaves behind her sister, Daune Lowney of New Bedford, MA, her beloved dogs, Toby and Tucker, and her many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesett Road, Warwick, RI 02886. In lieu of flowers, donations to a scholarship in Lisa's name to the East Providence School Department, 1998 Pawtucket Ave, East Providence RI, 02914 or the Ovarian Cancer Coalition would be appreciated.

I did not know Lisa for a long time. I worked with her at East Providence High School and she would always make it a point to speak to me during the day , which would always make me comfortable. A truly nice lady.

I met Lisa the year I worked at EPHS. Lisa was a true professional and yiu could not ask for anyone kinder. Lisa and I would chat outside of work and I was so saddened to hear of her diagnosis and passing. Lisa loved talking about her family. You will be in my prayers Lisa. It was an honor to have worked with you and to have known you as I did.

I got to know Lisa through St. Greg´s parish, as she was the catechist for my daughter´s Confirmation class. She was such a special person and made a huge spiritual impact in my daughter´s life. They shared a special connection and Lisa was a really important influence in her faith formation. She will be greatly missed by the parishioners at St. Greg´s, especially all her Confirmation students.

To Lisa´s Family,
I knew from the first day I met her that she was a very kind and generous person. Enjoyed my time working with her during the last four years at East Providence High School and Career Center.

I'm beyond devastated ! You were truly our Angel. When we met three and half yrs ago, I'd never realize just how much we had in common & how we just bonded. Ugh our sweet Lisa! I don't have any idea what I was doing when transitioning Myah to EP. You truly became more than just a voice. You became a loving friend who always comforted Myah along with half of EP students. You impacted so many lives for the best. I know how determined you were. I'll make dure your there when Myah graduates, I'll never forget our last conversation. We never had an opportunity to go riding I'll make sure I ride a horse in your memory. I love you Miss Medeiros and I truly can't thank you enough for everything! May you fly high pain free. You will live on through all who know you! Love you Eunice & Myah Fernandes
