On February 3, 1964, in Detroit, Michigan, Lisa Gwenett Riggins was born to Gwendolyn Green-Odom and the late Lynwood Green. From her earliest days, Lisa's life would be marked by love, faith, and a heart for others. On August 30th, at the age of 61, she peacefully entered her eternal rest in Jackson, Michigan, surrounded by the love of her family. Lisa graduated from Jackson High School in 1982, where she shined not only in her studies but also as a track runner in her younger years. At the tender age of 16, she made the most important decision of her life, giving her heart to the Lord. From that moment forward, she walked faithfully with Him, using her gift of song to bless others and serving the Lord with joy until her final days. Rooted in the Church of God, she deeply loved the truth and found great joy in worshiping with the saints. Her heart was large enough to embrace everyone she met. Lisa connected effortlessly with saints from all walks of life and was known as a mother to many. She was a trusted friend and confidant, often called upon when others needed encouragement or a listening ear. Her love extended beyond her own children, opened her home to many who needed shelter, care, and the comfort of family. Lisa found great joy in her yearly trips to Maumee Bay, a tradition she especially cherished the year her dear friend Anissa Gaskin and her beloved best friend, the late Angela Harris, joined her. She was a fun and adventurous mother to her six children, taking them to the library, fall festivals, vacations, and countless family outings. Dedicated to their growth in both mind and spirit, Lisa homeschooled all of her children, teaching them the Word of God, songs of praise, and life lessons rooted in faith. She was equally devoted to their academic growth, faithfully guiding them through their studies and instilling in them a love for learning. Among the many scriptures she imparted to them, Psalm 91 held a special place in her heart. In addition to being a loving mother, Lisa was a gifted educator and passionate childcare provider. As the founder of Little Riggs Daycare, she poured her heart into nurturing and teaching children, building bonds that reached beyond the classroom to include their parents and families. Her compassion and willingness to go above and beyond became the hallmark of who she was. In 1985, Lisa married Kenny Riggins Sr., and from their union came six cherished children: Nicole (Antoine) Breedlove, Kenneth (Valerie) Riggins Jr., Eric (Chelsea) Riggins, Brittany Riggins, Candace Riggins, and Darius Riggins. Her greatest joy was being their mother, and her love and devotion will live on in each of them. Lisa's memory will be remembered in love by her loving mother and true friend, Gwendolyn Green-Odom, and her two brothers, Terrence Green and Arnold Green. Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: Azariah Breedlove, Khalia Ryan, Eric Riggins Jr., Antoine Breedlove Jr., Armani Riggins, Amari Riggins, Arian Breedlove, Alan Breedlove, Khalil Riggins, Alaya Breedlove, Kaseem Riggins, Liana Riggins, Amira Breedlove, and Ramir Riggins. She also leaves behind a host of aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, special friends, and her loving Church of God family. Lisa's life was a living testimony of God's love, marked by faith, generosity, and a heart that knew no limits. Though she will be deeply missed, the seeds of love, kindness, and faith she planted will continue to bloom in the lives she touched.
