Lisa Stamper-Ponton peacefully departed this life and gained her wings on Sunday, May 4, 2025. Born in Jacksonville, Florida to Roger and Mary Stamper, Lisa attended Duval County Public Schools and was a proud member of the 1970 graduating class
of William Marion Raines High School. After high school graduation Lisa moved on to earn her undergraduate degree in Political Science from Spelman College; obtained a Master's Degree in Social Work and her Juris Doctorate degree from the
University of Pittsburgh. Lisa's licensure in Law enabled her to enjoy a distinguished career working for U.S. Steel Corporation, Magee-Women's Hospital, Legent Corporation, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Vanderbilt University, Legacy Supply
Chain Services, and as an independent Consultant.
Lisa was the wife of Paul S. Ponton, with whom she shared 47 devoted years of marriage. Their union was blessed with a son, Brian P., who was her pride and joy. Since returning home to Jacksonville eleven years ago, Lisa and her family joined and attended Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church.
Lisa was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Mary Stamper; maternal grandparents, Eva Mae Griglen Tate-Reed and John Willis Tate, Sr.; and paternal grandparents, Hilliard Stamper, Sr. and Victoria Stamper; father-in-law Herman
Ponton; brother-in-law James Ponton; nieces LaTasha Joyce and Melvanese Stamper; and nephews Ray C. Stamper, Jr. and Gregory C. Coleman II.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving and devoted husband, Paul S.; son Brian P.; mother-in-law Charleszine Ponton, who celebrates her 100th birthday later this month; sister-in-law Frances Ponton; brother-in-law Darryl Ponton; sisters
Camilla Reed, Dale Bell (Anthony "Bernard") and Phyllis Coleman; brothers, Ray Stamper, Sr. (Khahala), and Melvin "Wade" Stamper; uncles Clarence Stamper and Bobby Stamper; aunts Mary Lee, Bishop Sharon Patricia Cannon Jones, Geneva
Sapp, and Eleanor Hill; nieces CleShawn Joyce, Jimminda Thompson (Royce), Ashley Orsborn (Khalil), Maria Nesmith (Jerrand), Nekia Coleman, Shetia Johnson (Ervin), Tina Dates, Jamila Ponton-Bragg (Alvin), and Thema Ponton; nephews, Anthony Bell, Jr. (Jackie), Antonio Bell (Dorcas "Dee"), Kierston Stamper, Melvin "Rod" Smith (Yvette), Mario Smith (Tracy), and Joshua Stamper; very special niece and nephews, whom she treated as grandchildren, Ta'Liyah Brown, Coleman Spencer,
Tyler Johnson, Titan Johnson, and Caige Hightower; a very special double-cousin Latricia Mitchell (Carlton), with whom she celebrated the sibling birthday dinners; and a plethora of other nieces, nephews, devoted cousins, and friends. Lisa will be
missed very much.
However, as we know from 2 Corinthians 5:8 to be absent from
the body is to be present with the Lord.
