Sr. Lise Parent, a Salesian Sister for 47 years, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, at Valley Memorial Hospital in Paramus, New Jersey, leaving behind a legacy of dedication to her family, to her community, and to the young.
Sr. Lise was born on June 18, 1954, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Her father Lucien, provided for the family, while her mother, Denise, took care of the children.
Sr. Lise was an avid participant in the Girls' Club offered by the Salesian Sisters in Quebec and soon found herself drawn to the life of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians. She entered the community on October 31, 1974, in North Haledon, NJ, and made her first profession of vows on July 29, 1978.
Sr. Lise served the young in a variety of ways. Through her years of Salesian life, she was a catechist, a teacher, and in some instances, the principal of the school and the Superior of the community. St. Mary, Paterson; St. Michael, Atlantic City; St. Theresa, Kenilworth; Corpus Christi, Port Chester; Immaculate Conception, New Orleans; Villa Madonna, Tampa; and finally, Mary Help of Christians, North Haledon, were graced by her presence and sense of mission.
Sr. Lise was known for her caring and unending hospitality to anyone she encountered. She went out of her way to make everyone feel welcomed and provided the "extra" items that made a person feel particularly at home. She was loved by her students, who found in her an educator who truly loved them and prodded them on to fulfill their dreams. As a Principal, the faculty and staff felt that she had their best interests at heart. To her Salesian Sisters, she exemplified the loving kindness of the Preventive System--always ready to help, to serve, to accommodate.
Sr. Lise is survived by her brothers, Pierre and Guy Parent, her sister, Lucie Parent, her niece Julie Noiet, several aunts and uncles and multiple cousins.
She will be remembered by all those who knew her for her joy of living, her dedication to the young, and her love for her Salesian Sisters.
Visitation will begin at 2:30pm, Sunday, July 27, 2025 at Mary Help of Christians Academy, N. Haledon. Rosary will begin at 4pm followed by a 5pm Mass of Christian Burial.
