Lizette Reyna Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Alameda Funeral & Cremation Services - Alameda on Mar. 27, 2026.
Lizette Angelica Reyna, 85, of Alameda, California, passed away peacefully on March 13th, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on January 25th, 1941 in Estación Ramirez, Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico to Juanita Marroquin Reyna and Antonio Reyna Treviño where her story began. She grew up on her family's ranch where everyone would do their part to maintain it. Being the youngest of 13, she was so loved and spoiled, as she was the baby of the bunch. Every Sunday, they would all gather on the porch after dinner to make music. Some would provide the instrumental accompaniment while others would sing.

Lizette was a woman full of life; spunky, feisty and full of love. She lived her life with the belief that she could do anything and so she did. She had an incredible work ethic, a beautiful sense of style, and a deep appreciation for the finer things in life. She was outspoken, joyful and had a vibrant spirit that could light up any room. She loved to dance, laugh, and, most of all, bring her family together.

Her greatest joy in life was the family she created. She loved being a mother, a grandmother and a great-grandmother. Nothing made her happier than cooking delicious meals that gathered everyone around the table. Those moments that were filled with food, laughter, music, and love became the foundation of so many cherished memories.

In her later years, she developed Alzheimer's disease, and her journey became more difficult as it slowly took pieces of her from those who loved her. What began as small, confusing moments grew into a new normal of descension into this disease. She ended up moving from her home in Fontana to her eldest daughter's home in Alameda. Lizette was lovingly cared for, day in and day out by her daughter, Araceli Quezada, her granddaughter, Dalia Quezada, and her son-in-law, Ruben Quezada. Eventually, Lizette was placed into home hospice care and, through it all, she was surrounded by unwavering love.

Even in the midst of that journey, there were still beautiful moments. One of the most treasured was celebrating her final birthday with her family gathered around her. Like in her early childhood days, everyone sang songs, laughed about fond memories, and shared beautiful stories about her life. Her family made her traditional banana birthday cake with homemade frosting. It was a reflection of the life she created; one centered on love, togetherness, and family.

Lizette will be remembered not only for her strength and spirit but she also leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to her family that will continue to live on within each one of them. Her voice, her laughter, her stories, her recipes and her love will be carried forever.

"Hasta que nos volvamos a encontrar. Tu alma ahora es libre y ha vuelto a casa con Dios."

Lizette is survived by children: Amado Amaro, Araceli Quezada, Yvette Sandoval; Grandchildren: Amber Schauer, Natalie Haifley, Aidan Quezada, Dalia Quezada, Matthew Amaro, Amanda Quezada, Angelica Sandoval; and Great- Grandchildren: Emily Covarrubias, Adam Covarrubias, Eli Amaro, Cyrus Amaro, Jordan Schauer, Ireland Haifley, Amelia Schauer.

A viewing will be held on March 30th at Rose Hills Memorial Park, in Whittier, CA at 11 am.
