Lloyd Thomas Allison, age 90, formerly of Fort Myers, Florida was a longtime resident of Nashville, Tennessee. He graduated in 1956 from Trevecca Nazarene University High School. He also took courses at the University for four years.
He had a diverse working career which included Chief Industrial Engineer for Sparta Industries (10 years), Corporate Pilot for Tractor Supply, Sales Manager for Piper Aircraft Dealer, Culligan of Nashville in marketing, Cellular Phone Sales with Cingular and Bell South Mobility (20 years). In addition, he was a photographer and taught photography in evening adult education at McGavock High School (10 years). Lloyd was the photographer for Williamson County, TN GED Graduate pictures. One of his favorite pastimes on Friday nights was cashier for Center Point Bar-B-Que in Hendersonville, TN with the owners, Bill and Bonnie Loyd. Above all careers, Lloyd was a Southern Christian gentleman who loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a diligent, devoted student of the Bible and Webster’s Dictionary daily until he was not able to do due to his health issues. One of his favorite Bible Studies was the names of God. He was an avid reader of Holiness writers. He loved children and young people and was their teacher in his younger years in the Nashville Bible Missionary Church. He was an original charter member when the Nashville church was organized in 1956. During the annual church camp, he was the “coffee and tea shop man” all three meals for 15 years.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas J. Allison and Myrtis (Scott) Allison Walker; brothers, Larry Ted Allison, David (Bud) Allison and Fred Allison; and sister, Linda Faye Walker. Those left to cherish Lloyd’s memory are his wife of 13 years, Margaret Allison (Adamsville, Alabama); three children, Melinda (Jeff) King, Rebecca Allison and Alan Allison; two inherited children, Ellen (Greg) McCormick and Allen (Jennifer) Humphrey; P-Paw to eight grandchildren, Jessica Allison, Tyler Dixon, Nathan and Austin McCormick, Reid, Jake, Cole and Tess Humphrey; one great grandson Koga Allison; two sisters Sylvia Allison and Celeste (Paul) Domke; three brothers Gary (Jackie) Allison, John (Phyllis) Allison and Billy (Becky) Allison, sister-in-law Brenda Allison; a host of cousins, nieces and nephews and friends across the Bible Missionary Church and his places of employment. He was a special “Pop” to Dianne (Robby) Yerby Pendley.
Lloyd and his wife, Margaret, attended the Pleasant Grove Bible Missionary Church. He continued his photography skills and substitute adult Sunday school teaching. No service in the Lord’s work was too big or small for Lloyd. If he missed a service, he was sick.
Special thanks to the staff of Compassus Home Health and Hospice for their care over the last 4 months. Also, a big thank you to Trent Dayton, Ed and Carolyn Snow for sitting with Lloyd during his last months.
