Dan was born Lloyd Daniel Bowman Jr on May 21, 1960, in Modesto, CA to parents Lloyd and Marianne Bowman. On August 15, 2025 at the age of 65, Dan entered into the presence of his Savior.
Dan grew up in Modesto and lived here his entire life. He shared a birthday with his older sister Brenda, which they celebrated together every year as they grew up. They were blessed to celebrate one last time together this year in Ohio. Dan enjoyed an active childhood in which he spent much of his time in the outdoors. Dan took special joy in taking his younger brother John along on outdoor trips, camping, fishing, and hunting.
On November 9, 1990 Dan married Diane Landes his best friend and the love of his life, the beginning of 34 years together. Their life together was filled with love and adventure. They truly did life together. Whether it was camping trips, gardening, making apple butter, vacations, or just going to the grocery store, they always were together and often accompanied by their dogs who were considered part of the family.
Dan and Diane enjoyed traveling and took many trips together. They took over 12 trips to Alaska where they enjoyed spending time deep sea fishing, viewing wildlife, seeing the northern lights, and enjoying the beauty of God's creation. Alaska always held a special place in Dan's heart. Other trips included traveling to many destinations across the United States and a special trip to Israel with their church family in 2022.
Dan was an excellent cook and loved to bake, traits he inherited from his mother Marianne. One of his specialties was baking his award winning apple pie which will be sorely missed by the rest of us. Dan enjoyed gardening and always had produce to share with others.
Dan spent most of his career as a carpenter and was a skilled woodworker as demonstrated by the many pieces of furniture and projects he completed. Dan was very creative and enjoyed finding uses for items that otherwise may have been overlooked.
In 2005 Dan made the decision to accept Christ as his Savior and was baptized at Calvary Chapel Modesto, a decision that marked a turning point in his life and defined his eternity.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Marianne and in laws Carl and Wilma. He is survived by his wife Diane, sister Brenda and her husband Steve, brother John and his wife Kathy, brother-in-law Gerald and his wife Barbara, brother-in-law Ron and his wife Heidi, along with 8 nieces and nephews, 8 great nieces and nephews and one great great niece.
