Gene was born July 24, 1932, in Muskogee, OK to the late Reverend Lloyd James and Dottie Grace (Woodman) Cooper.
Gene was a United States Air Force Veteran, serving 30 years from 1952 to 1982 during both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a Chief Senior Master Sergeant E-9. He was awarded many medals. He had attended Oklahoma State University for two years before entering the service. When he retired he helped his wife Lida, with her tax business. He loved to travel all over the world. He was an avid fisherman and sports fan. He read his devotions every day. If you asked how he was doing, he would say he was “Terrific!” or “Super fantastic!” because he had a joyful personality. He was a wonderful dad and grandpa.
On August 4, 1956, he married the love of his life, Lida Elaine (Wayman) Cooper, who passed away November 24, 2008.
