Lloyd Covington Obituary
He was born on May 10, 1948 in Hamlet, NC, a son of the late Clarence William Covington and Gladys Hawks Covington.
Lloyd retired from CSX Railroad. He was a trainman and yardmaster.
Lloyd was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. Even while battling cancer, he continued to do both. He felt most at peace spending time on the water.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Sammy McKenzie Covington, Phillip Douglas Covington, and his son Bryan Lloyd Covington.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Kathy Pate Covington; sister, Robyn (Oakie) Mitchell of Chesterfield, VA; nephew, Kyle Weaver of Lafayette, IN; special cousin, Matt (Brandi) Cooper of Ellerbe, NC; daughter, Joy (Marcus) Comstock of Kenly, NC; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Harrington Funeral Home on Friday, January 30, 2026 from 11:00am-12:00pm.
The memorial service will immediately follow visitation, beginning at 12:00pm, in the chapel of Harrington Funeral Home with the Reverend Leon Hawks officiating. Burial will be held private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Lloyd's memory be made to Richmond County Hospice, 1119 N. US Hwy. 1, Rockingham, NC 28379 or First United Methodist Church, 300 Charlotte Street, Hamlet, NC 28345.
