With profound sadness, the family of Lloyd Walters DuPre of Lexington, SC announces his
peaceful passing at the age of 89 on September 17, 2025 after a brief illness.
Lloyd was born in Columbia, SC on December 26, 1935 to Albert DuPre Sr. and Edith Walters
DuPre. The family lived in the Shandon neighborhood. Lloyd graduated High School from
Dreher and after service in the U.S. Navy he enrolled in the University of South Carolina where
he earned his degree in Business Administration, and met the Love of his Life, Betty Dickson, at
a Columbia College Valentines Day dance. They were married for Sixty-Six years. Lloyd spent the
majority of his professional career in the Real Estate business.
Lloyd loved being on the water. The family moved to Lake Murray where he divided his leisure
time between Golf, Boating or working on some household project. Lloyd was a long-time
member of Lexington Country Club where he golfed several times a week. He was an avid
Gamecock Fan and he loved telling corny jokes. Lloyd loved his family dearly. He and Betty
enjoyed taking trips together and he was always available to mentor his two boys.
Lloyd is survived by his wife Betty, his sons Wesley and Darin, his brother Mike, his grandsons
Colton and Tyler and his daughter-in-law Dene. He was predeceased by his brother Albert Jr.
and his sister Annette Hunt.
A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, September 24 at 2:00 PM at Mount Horeb Church
in Lexington. A visitation will be held immediately after the service.
