Lloyd Gaither Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 12 to Jan. 21, 2024.
Lloyd K. Gaither passed away suddenly on January 4th, 2024 in Spokane, Washington at the age of 86. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather to a family who will sorely miss him. Lloyd left behind his partner in life, his wife of 44 years, Betty J. Gaither; his children - Wendy Gaither, Joel Gaither (Michelle), Tia Gaither, Patrick Gaither (Marnie), Donette Hockmeyer (Steve), Sherry McCormick (Jim), Greg Fields, Kim Cox (Steve); and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His parents Lloyd and Kathryn Gaither, his sister Ray, his daughter Rene Blaume, and her daughter Angela Anderson predeceased him in death.

Lloyd began his life by a switch-lantern in White Salmon, Washington on January 1st, 1938. He was born to Lloyd R. Gaither and Kathryn W. Gaither. His father had him help in the family store which led to him having a head for business. His school of choice was Oregon State University, Go Ducks! Lloyd worked for Moore Business Forms for 34 years and then created his own business under the moniker of LG Systems which he owned for 4 years. Once retired, he even did a stint as a bus paraeducator for the Mead School District. He and Betty created a blended family when they met in the late 70's. Together, they had 9 children! Lloyd and the family had many fun times together during holidays, trips to Priest Lake, Idaho, over cards, pickleball, and much more. However, we do have to mention his other love, golf. Lloyd was an avid golfer. He never gave up his dream of the perfect swing! Luckily, he now has access to the most beautiful course in the heavens above.

A memorial service will be held at Sunset Chapel in the Fairmount Memorial Park on Saturday, January 27th, at 1:00 pm. The preferred florist is Evergreen Florist at 509-326-6888.

Lloyd was a golfing friend of my late husband, Mike, and myself. When I think of him, the word " gentleman" immediately comes to mind. My condolences to Betty and his entire family , as well as his large extended family of friends.

Lloyd was my 2nd Dad and was a man who loved Dogs, sports and Especially Golf! My sister Sherry and my Husband Steve and I were in California for Christmas with our Daughter Jennifer her husband and 3 grandkids for Christmas! On January 1st we called Lloyd to wish him a Happy Birthday and he said Don´t you know the Washngton Game is on! Bye now! We laughed so hard! That was Lloyd. When my mom stayed at my house after being in the hospital for a couple months so I could care for her he came every night to have dinner with her! He loved coming to our home for dinner and always got his special mimosas! He was so sick and still made the effort to attend my Christmas Party this last December and as usual his Mimosas were waiting! Lloyd you will be so MissedLove you Always

I lost my favorite dad. That I had the honor of caring for him and being his uber driver. Taking him to all of his appointments. My co-pilot would always say, "oh were taking Washington St again", then he would provide me with turn-by-turn directions and I would let him know that he didn't have a steering wheel on his side, I would say "I got this". When I offered to help, his reply was "I'm good". I'm honored that I got to be his buddy and I'm so thankful that he choose me to help him. I will love and miss you always and forever, Sherry
