He attended St. Ambrose College, Lincoln University (Missouri), where he served as student body president, and later earned a Master's degree from Baylor University while serving in the United States Army.

Starting his military career with the XVIII Airborne Corps at Fort Bragg, he continued on to key leadership roles within Army medicine, including at the Office of the Army Surgeon General and as Inspector General at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Among earning many accolades, he was recognized for his work by senior U.S. government leadership.

He was widely respected for his leadership, discipline, and steady presence, and known personally for his generosity and the way he carried himself with consistency and care.

Lloyd was devoted to his family and took pride in sharing stories of them. Of his household, he is survived by his sons, Lloyd Mack Mallory Jr. and Scott Mallory, and his grandson, Scott Mallory Jr. He was preceded in death by his wife, Billye Mallory, and all of his siblings.

His body has been donated to the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences for research and training, followed by cremation.

A private ceremony will be held on June 15, 2026 at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
