Lloyd Merriman was born November 29, 1945 in Manila, AR to Harvey and Sula (Rice) Merriman. He departed this life Friday, January 27, 2023 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO, at the age of 77.
Lloyd was a very hard worker and blessed at everything he put his hands to do. He loved camping, fishing, hunting and working in his garden and yard. He was a Christian and loved to wear his cap that proclaimed, I love Jesus, and always received comments when he did. He attended the Sanctuary of Hope Church in Berryville, AR. One of his most cherished accomplishments was becoming a licensed ordained minister with the Church of God of Cleveland, TN. Given the opportunity, Lloyd began pastoring the Church of God in Springdale, AR. During his time there, he helped build a new church and saw the church grow in great number. He was honored by the Church of God at the General Assembly for the "Fastest Growing Church of God" in the state of Arkansas. Through out his life he worked in car sales and management for several different dealerships until he retired due to Multiple Sclerosis. Lloyd being one to never give up went on to open Pickers Flea Market in Gassville, AR which he and his wife Phyllis operated before returning to Berryville, AR. Loving to camp and meet people, Lloyd and Phyllis spend the next three summers as Park Attendants for the National Parks Service.
Lloyd is survived by his sister, Ann Long of Mountain Home, AR; two Sons, Lloyd (J.R.) Merriman and wife Connie of Berryville, AR; Darrell Merriman and Wife Alicia of Berryville, AR; one grandson, Hunter Merriman and wife Jaimie of Bradenton, FL; one granddaughter, Shania Merriman of Berryville, AR; one great grandson, Logan Merriman of Bradenton, FL; one stepdaughter, Lisa Carlson and husband Joel of Witter, AR; one stepson, David Rowlett of Berryville, AR; one brother-in-law, Sammy Seawright of Flippin, AR; two sisters-in-law, Nadine Merriman of Dripping Springs, AR and Irene Friend of Crossville, TN; and a host of nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis (Stanphill) Merriman; parents Harvey and Sula (Rice) Merriman, four brothers, J.P. Friend, Lawrence Merriman, Otis Merriman, and Bill Merriman; three sisters; Ova Jones, Veta Parrish and Kay Seawright; two nieces, Regina Mooney and Annette Merriman; two nephews, Charles Jones and Jackie Merriman.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 3, 2023 at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 4, 2023 at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel with Pastor Kris Villines officiating. Interment will follow at the Berryville Memorial Park Cemetery.
