Lloyd Ponds Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Marion County Funeral Home - Hamilton on Feb. 7, 2026.
Lloyd Parker Ponds went to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. Lloyd was born on February 10, 1936, to the late John Thomas Ponds and Grace Austin Ponds in Saltillo, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. Lloyd learned from an early age to work hard and love people. His life lessons taught him great character which he has passed on to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His love for and faith in God carried him through many trials and difficulties and we celebrate that his faith has now become sight in the presence of his Savior.

Lloyd retired from 3 M after 25 years and had other successful business endeavors through the years. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Free Will Baptist Church for over 60 years, serving as Deacon and in many other roles.

Remembered for his strong faith, his love for family, and his strong work ethic, he leaves behind a lasting legacy for his family and all who knew him. He loved to help people and served many years as a Mason and with the Shriners.

He leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Shirley Faye Pearce Ponds, two daughters, Sheila Ponds Chastain, (Dr. Stephen Chastain) and Sharon Ponds Sanders (Rev. Robert (Bob) Sanders); one honorary daughter, Adrianne Hodges Branson (Rev. Mark Branson); three grandchildren; Rebekah Calli Boswell (John Michael Boswell), Jesse G. Brown, III (Sydney) and Parker Stephen Chastain; two great grandchildren, Cooper Davis Boswell and Cade Hamilton Boswell; and numerous nieces, nephews.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Amedisys Hospice, Michael Pueirtt and Aaron McKnight in taking care of our husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 5 pm until 7 pm at Marion County Funeral Home, 3325 Bexar Ave E, Hamilton, AL 35570. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 11 am at the funeral home with Rev. Robert (Bob) Sanders and Rev. Mark Branson officiating and burial at Hamilton Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Jesse G. Brown, III, Parker Stephen Chastain, John Michael Boswell, Joe Bonee, Johnny Bonee, and Tim Pearce.
