Lloyd David Potter, 89, Waukee, Iowa died Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at Mercy Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa. Dave was born April 24, 1936 in Des Moines to Lloyd H. and Juanita (Correll) Potter. He was raised, educated, lived and worked his entire life in Des Moines.

Survivors include children Linda (Mark) Abendroth, Gary (Nancy) Potter, Daniel (Patricia) Potter, brother Phillip Potter, sister Loretta 'Jean' Quinnett, stepchildren Richard Skeie, Dennis Skeie, Randy Skeie, Cindy Skeie, 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, and 2 step great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his wife Norma Jean Potter, parents Lloyd and Juanita Potter, brother Jim Potter, stepson Ronald Skeie, and grandson Reid Besch.

Dave graduated from Tech High School, Des Moines, and was in the Iowa Air National Guard Reserves as a Tech Sergeant from 1954 to 1964. His working career was spent at Dahl's Foods, Des Moines, as Assistant Manager at multiple stores and Non Foods Merchandising Manager. He retired in 1998 after 34 years. He had been a member of Windsor United Methodist Church, Waveland Park Masonic Lodge, and Clear Lake Antique Classic Boat Society.

The family will greet friends from 10:00am to funeral service time of 11:00am on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Windsor United Methodist Church, 6222 University Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50311. Following the service at 11:00am there will be a procession to Resthaven Cemetery, West Des Moines for interment. Refreshments will then be served back at church.

Memorials may be directed to Windsor United Methodist Church.
