Lloyd Spencer Smith, 88, of Terre Haute went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. He was born November 10, 1936 in Terre Haute to Carl Smith and Jemima Stewart Smith. Lloyd was a 1955 graduate of Wiley High School where he played football. Lloyd also coached little league baseball in the community. He worked at Stran Steel for twenty five years and went on to work for the Terre Haute Street Department. Lloyd was loved at his job, he was a Union Steward, and at age 84 he retired. They begged him to stay. He became saved at age 43 and was a very active member of Saint's Home Church of God in Christ. He was a member of the church board and a Deacon for many years. Lloyd also drove the church bus for 18 years and the children brought him so much joy. He married Montrell Dickerson on January 20, 1968, and they spent 57 wonderful years together. To her he will forever be the best dressed man in Terre Haute.
Lloyd leaves behind those to cherish his memory, beloved wife Montrell Smith, children Bryant (Dannella), Antonia, James (Terri), and Ron (Denise); grandchildren Chris (Robin), Rondell, Michael (Amy), Bryant II, Jalyn, Mishan, Taylor, Devante, Ron Jr., and Spencer; eighteen
great-grandchildren, twin brother Floyd Smith (Jeannette), as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Vernon Smith, Mary Edith Taylor, and Marlena McCorrmick, as well as other extended family.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Saint's Home Church of God in Christ located at 2210 N. 13th Street, Terre Haute from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Service will begin at the church at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark J. Blade officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Amber at Majestic at Deming for the love and care given to Lloyd during his time there.
