Rev. Lloyd Stanley Strom, Jr. (80) of Novato, California, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025 from heart/kidney disease.
Born January 9, 1945 in Oakland, California. As a child, Lloyd enjoyed building models of cars and airplanes. He also enjoyed building street sleds and box cars and playing football with his brother and friends. He attended Olympia Elementary School in Westlake, California, before moving to Terra Linda at age fourteen. As a young adult, he enjoyed skiing, sailing, his blue MG Roadster and he always loved Christmas. He was a graduate of San Rafael High School and attended University of Nevada later becoming a registered civil engineer for the City of San Rafael. He retired early to follow his passion as an ordained Reverend.
Rev. Lloyd faithfully and lovingly served the Christ Church of Co-Creation as a founding board member and Vice President since its inception in 1994. A collaboration with Rev. Dr. Marcia Sutton began in 1989, helping to shape a ministry rooted in spiritual brilliance, profound insights and healings. He was a beloved teacher and spiritual architect. The blending of his engineering mind with Divine Wisdom illuminated complex Universal truths in ways that were practical, transformational, and deeply human. A prolific writer, speaker and visionary, Lloyd created a vast body of work through NovaTech Ministries offering tools for teachers that continue to bless humanity. His humor was smart, quick and quirky. Rev. Lloyd had such a tender heart. With wisdom, humility and love, he uplifted and taught with a grace that quietly and deeply changed lives. His legacy is alive in every student, every class and every spiritual practice he brought forth. His works are truly the "works of Love".
He shared his faith with his family at all holiday gatherings with beautiful blessings before each meal. He was a loving son to Rosemary and Glenn Thompson of Novato, dear brother to Larry Thompson, Roseanna Brand, Rhonda Carr and proud uncle to Jefferey, Elliott, Matthew, Jason and Timothy and a dear brother-in-law to John Carr and Chuck Brand. Lloyd is survived by his two younger sisters, five nephews, four grandnephews, one grandniece and several cousins. Lloyd was preceded in death by his younger brother Larry in 2001 and his parents. Two months before Lloyd Jr. was born, his birth father (Lloyd Sr.) was killed while serving on the USS Mount Hood when it exploded during WWII. Family and friends will always remember Lloyd for his wittiness, wise advice and beautiful prayers.
A celebration of life will be held at The Valley Memorial Cemetery in Novato, August 4th at 10am. Donations in his honor can be made to the American Heart Association or his beloved church. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Lloyd, please visit our Tree Store.
