Lloyd Sutton, Sr.
Mr. Lloyd Sutton, Sr., age 89, of Mount Olive, passed away Tuesday evening, Dec. 20, 2022, at home with his family encircling him with love.
Lloyd was born in Wayne County on Dec. 31, 1932 to the late Leonidas Gordon Sutton and Dossie Ellen Sutton.
Surviving Lloyd is his wife of 63 1/2 years, Katherine "Casey' Hines Sutton; their daughters, Katherine (Craig) Hansen, Elizabeth Landers, and Trish (George) Shantz, all of Mount Olive; their son, Lloyd Sutton, Jr. (Dawn) of Venice, Florida. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and spouses, and 13 great-grandchildren; his sister, Lorraine Britt of Faison; sister-in-law, Dottie Sutton of Utah; brother-in-law, Reggie Hines of Mount Olive; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Leon Sutton; his twin brother, Floyd Sutton; his sisters, Cleo Boyette, Mable Sutton, and Myrtle Justice; and a son-in-law, Jay Landers.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Lloyd's memory may be made to Mount Olive Fire Department (P.O. Box 939, Mount Olive, NC 28365) where he was a volunteer fireman for more than 20 years; or to the charity of one's choice.
The family will receive friends at the home, 104 E. College St. in Mount Olive. A Celebration of Life for the family will be held on Lloyd's birthday, Dec. 31, 2022.
