Lloyd Willhite, 79, of Windsor, Missouri, died late Tuesday night, February 20, 2024, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo.
He was born June 17, 1944, in Clinton, Mo., the son of Garland Jacob Willhite and Elta Alice (Merritt) Willhite. On June 10, 1964, he married Genie Claudine Hargett in Clinton, Mo., and she survives of the home.
Lloyd worked as a machinist for KW-Dart Truck Co. in Kansas City for 21 years and then as a supervisor for the Kansas City Water Department for over 13 years before retirement. He was talented with wood and metal, making small-scale gas engines, clocks, and working on anything intricate. He built and raced a race car and rebuilt several cars. He enjoyed tinkering with machines and contributed to many community projects in Windsor.
In addition to his wife Genie, survivors include a daughter, Cassi Lynn Willhite, Windsor, Mo.; a sister, Mary Jane Dixon, Texas; a sister-in-law, Janie Sidwell, Garden City, Mo.; and numerous nephews and nieces including Wayne Hargett. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Willhite; his parents; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Rev. Jamie Hargett officiating. Burial will be in the Cable Ridge Cemetery, Climax Springs, Mo. The family will receive friends before the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the Michael Willhite Automotive Scholarship c/o the Windsor High School Master Scholarship Endowment Fund (checks WHS MSEF).
