LOIS BEAVAN

August 20, 1943 – November 24, 2024

Bakersfield – Lois Beavan, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, left this earth peacefully on November 24th, 2024. She is now in heaven with our Lord Jesus and those who went before her. Lois was born on August 20th, 1943, in Bakersfield, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers. She leaves behind her husband, Ivan Beavan Jr. (Herk), and her three children, Carrie Morgan (Robby), Tracy VanCuren (Jason), and Jonathan Gentry (Kay). She also leaves behind seven grandchildren who adored her: Molly Saptono (Januar), Jonah VanCuren, Andrew Morgan, Justin VanCuren, Jase VanCuren (Carly), Joseph Morgan, and Jonas Gentry. She also leaves one great-granddaughter, Josie VanCuren.

Lois worked early on as a Dental Technician but became a homemaker after marrying Herk in 1978. She took care of many children during this time, including her grandchildren. She was an excellent cook, baker, and crafter. She loved the holidays and was an amazing and thoughtful gift-giver. She is so loved and will be missed every day.

Lois took the best care of me, my brother and my cousins. I often considered a third grandmother, she was so wonderful. We all love her so much and are so sorry to hear of her passing.

Lois was a very special person and influence in my life. My first memories of Lois are sleepovers and birthday parties for Carrie and Tracy. I remember she made Tracy a special bunny cake each year for her birthday. Lois braided our hair for band performances and vacations. She taught me how to French braid, which I thought was so neat. I remember Lois and my mom making many crafts and I still have several special Christmas ornaments they made. Lois always made me feel like another one of her kids. I remember her driving us through Wienerschnitzel and getting a bunch of mustard dogs for everyone. I didn´t think I liked mustard, but I didn´t want to appear ungrateful so I tried one, and liked it :) Lois was always so supportive of her kids, but also their friends. I remember practicing for many "talent" shows and cheer classes. She always was kind and supportive. I went to softball games and sat with her while Carrie played, and once in jr. high our band went to Disneyland and I hung out with Lois for most of the day. I was afraid of the roller coaster type rides and she stayed with me while we waited for everyone else. I´m not sure if she really didn´t like those rides either, or if she just didn´t want me to be alone. I loved her macaroni salad and remember asking her for the recipe when I was in jr. high. I still use her recipe and have passed it on to lots of others who love it too. I remember her smile and how she would make funny rhymes. I loved that about her and still use some of her rhymes today. She would say "no tacky talk"and I have repeated that so many times and still say it to my students :) It´s the many ways Lois made me feel loved that I will remember, she was a blessing and will be missed.

Aunt Sug will definitely be missed! I will always remember her special ability to make a person feel loved immediately. From the day I met her, she always made me feel welcomed, loved, and like I always had been part of the family. She loved our girls like they were her grandchildren, too. She had precious memories of Dennis which she loved sharing with the girls. I will also remember her beautiful smile which lit up a room. Thank you for sharing your mom and grandma with us.

Tracy and I became best friends when we were 9. I spent countless hours at her house and Lois and my Mom were also good friends. When I think of my childhood she is inextricably woven into so many memories. From playing at her house, having her French braid my hair, and the many sleepovers I had there over the years. How lucky I was to have had the safety and love she offered anyone who walked through her doors.
