Lois Becker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Eastern Shore Cremation and Funeral Service on Jan. 23, 2026.
Lois Jean Bates Becker left this earth peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, on January 16, 2026, in Pocomoke City, MD. Born on September 5, 1939, in Kitts, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Fred and Omega Bates.

Lois was a proud graduate of Harlan High School, Class of 1957. She spent most of her life in Kitts and Bellevue, Kentucky, working and taking care of her family and whomever needed her at that particular time. Lois retired from the U.S. Federal Court System as a Federal Court Clerk. However, her main goal in life was to make life just a little bit easier for her family and friends. In doing so, she collected lifelong friends and devoted family along the way.

Lois is survived by her son, Paul M. Becker, and daughter-in-law, Lori; her daughter, Jo Ella Brittingham, and son-in-law, Tom. She will be remembered by her loving grandchildren, Logan Becker, Jordan (Kelsey) Becker, Peyton Becker, Annah Fox (Billy), Noah Brittingham, and Eli Brittingham. Lois was blessed with three great-grandchildren, Arizona Becker, Brooks Becker, and Liam Fox. Other beloved family include nieces and great-nieces Penny, Jeanni, Mekala , Kellynn, Hailey, and Charlotte; and nephews and great-nephews Roy, Fred, Ryan, Jaden, Dorian, Jackson, and Ezriel. She will be deeply missed by family and friends whom she cherished throughout her life.

Lois is predeceased by her parents, Fred and Omega Bates; her brother, Roy B. Bates; her sister, Judy Crider; her nephew, John Crider; and her granddaughter, Mary Kate Brittingham.

Lois will be remembered for her smile, her quick wit, and her sometimes embarrassing achievement of being the loudest and proudest parent or grandparent in the stands at any athletic event. She loved her family fiercely and held a standard for all to live up to. She could outwork any person and clean like no other. Lois demonstrated her Christian faith through acts of service and love.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 7, at the Pocomoke Community Center's Gathering Space. Visitation is from 1:00-2:00 p.m., with a brief service to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who wish to honor Lois' memory to go to their local library, check out a book, and read it. If you would like to give a monetary donation, please contribute to your favorite charity.
