Lois A. Briggs (Darby), 83 of Plum, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, September 19, 2025. She was born on September 5, 1942, to Charles A. and Lillian M. Darby in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Wilkinsburg High School in 1960. In 1957, Lois met the love of her life, Robert E. Briggs, on a double date with her older sister (both couples later married their respective dates!). Lois and Robert married in 1962 in Pittsburgh and built a life together over 63 years of marriage, raising two beloved children, Deborah and Robert. Lois loved spending time with her family, friends, and many cherished pets. A devout Christian and serious student of the Bible, she and her sister Charlene led Vacation Bible School, taught Bible study, and created countless church performances to inspire and delight children and the congregation. She enjoyed crafts, birdwatching, crime shows, and volunteering at skilled nursing facilities. Though she valued exercise, Sundays often found her sneaking away with her husband to Dairy Queen-until she discovered her true favorite sweet treat, Handel's Homemade Ice Cream. Later in life, Lois renewed her passion for horses and riding, spending countless hours with her daughter's horse, Mac, and her beloved dog, Chester. Though sometimes feisty, Lois lived a life filled with fun, laughter, faith, and love. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend. Lois is survived by her husband Robert, daughter, Deborah Forssman (Briggs); her son, Robert C. Briggs, and daughter-in-law, Andrea Congemi Briggs; and her sisters, Janice M. Ramage and Charlene R. Cromer, and brother-in-law Donald Cromer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lillian Darby; brother-in-law, Thomas A. Ramage; sister-in-law, Pearl Walker; and nephew, Thomas A. Ramage. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends-all of whom she considered family. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, September 23, from 2–4 p.m. and 6–8 p.m. where funeral services will be Wednesday, September 24, at 11 a.m. at MAURICE L. KNEE, LTD. FUNERAL HOME, 7663 Saltsburg Road, Plum, PA 15239. Interment will follow in Plum Creek Cemetery.
