Janet (Ferguson) Gorman, age 91, of Cranberry Twp., formerly of Wilkinsburg and Murrysville, passed away on July 27, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born on August 27, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Annie (Marshall) and William Ferguson.
Janet leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, William Gorman (Kathy) and Jeff Gorman (Joanie); her grandchildren, Andrew Gorman (Michele) and Elizabeth Gorman; and her great-grandchildren, Ellie Mary and Connor William; her brother-in-law, Donald Mincher; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her husband, William Gorman, Sr., with whom she was married to for 53 years before he passed in 2007; and her sister, Margaret Mincher.
Janet was a 1951 graduate of Wilkinsburg High School. She converted to the Catholic faith and married Bill on June 5, 1954.
Janet was a "working mom." With a high school diploma and a business school certificate, she joined Mellon Bank in the early 70's and worked her way up from branch teller to Banking Officer in the International Commercial Loan department. She retired in 1995 after a 23-year career.
In retirement Janet dedicated her time to volunteer activities, including Eucharistic Minister for the sick, a food pantry volunteer, and the Sherwood Oaks gift shop.
Her Scottish heritage produced in her a fierce determination and tireless work ethic. She was a friend to many. She took great pride in her family, her work and in her service.
She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, cross-stitching, sewing, and especially baking.
Family and friends will be received from 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Boylan-Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Twp., PA 16066.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 A.M. on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Divine Grace Parish – St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, 2535 Rochester Rd., Cranberry Twp., PA 16066. Please meet at the Church.
Janet will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.
