Lois Caldwell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel of Capitol Hill on Sep. 26, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Lois Katherine Caldwell was born on April 10, 1939, in Eufaula, Oklahoma, to Rudolph and Christeen Edwards. She peacefully departed this life on September 25, 2025. She carried herself with elegance and faith, a true woman of distinction and a faithful servant of the Lord, living by the Scripture in 1 Corinthians 14:40: "Let all things be done decently and in order." Even so, she wrote her own obituary with instructions that her homegoing be free from heavy sorrow, instead filled with gratitude for the life and love she shared, encouraging us to remember the best of our past moments and to let go of the rest, until the day we meet again.

Lois accepted Christ at an early age and remained devoted to Him throughout her life. For many years she was a faithful member of Christ Holy Sanctified Churches, most recently the Oklahoma City congregation. She served diligently and grew deeply in her walk with God. With a heart for ministry and obedience to His call, she planted a church in Tulsa, demonstrating her commitment to spreading the Gospel. She visited nursing homes, hosted an AM radio devotional show to encourage listeners, and travelled the state of Oklahoma to support and revive congregations. Later, she became a member of Crossroads Cathedral, now Crossroads Church, in 1986, where she faithfully served as an altar worker, in the tape ministry, and as a willing helper wherever needed. Her dedication to ministry extended beyond the church walls as she volunteered with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, where she served as a minister and mentor to inmates, sharing encouragement and God's love.

Professionally, Lois worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for 26 years, dedicating her career to caring for others with compassion and excellence. She retired from Bone and Joint Hospital after many years of service there.

She enjoyed traveling, gardening, arts and crafts, fishing, and above all, serving others. With a special heart for the poor and underserved, Lois was a generous giver, sharing her blessings through encouragement, support, and financial resources whenever God provided the opportunity.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Odell Caldwell; her parents, Rudolph and Christeen Edwards; her brother Curtis Edwards; her children Calvin Dorney Lucas, Jonathan "Bug" Lucas III, and Sherry Ann Lucas; and her grandsons Gregory Terrell Lucas Jr. and Malachi Jonathan Eugene Lucas.

She leaves to cherish her memory her brother Alfred T. (Harlena) Edwards of Oklahoma City, sister-in-law Joy (the late Curtis) Edwards, her sons Gregory T. (Natasha) Lucas of Oklahoma City and Kevin L. (Angela) Lucas of Allen, Texas, stepson Michael Caldwell of Enid, Oklahoma, her grandchildren Crystal Deanne Gaston, Angel Alexander Lucas, Jonathan Isaiah Lucas, Tyson Javier Lucas, Amina Leilani Lucas, and Amari Kai Lucas, along with great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and dear friends.

Lois Katherine Caldwell lived a life of faith, service, and love. Her legacy will continue to shine through the lives she touched and the example she set.
