Gary Lynn Romriell, age 73, of Oklahoma City, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m. He was born on March 16, 1952, in Pocatello, Idaho, where he was raised among a close-knit family and community.
Gary graduated from Highland High School in 1970 and soon after answered the call to serve his country. On June 17, 1971, he joined the United States Air Force, beginning an honorable career that spanned more than two decades. His early years in the Air Force included work as a Fire Protection Specialist and later as a Medical Laboratory Specialist. Over the course of his service, he participated in the Vietnam War and, later, the Gulf War, where he played a vital role in surveillance and monitoring aboard AWACS aircraft. His dedication also led him to pursue higher education, earning a bachelor's degree that enabled him to become a commissioned officer.
He retired honorably in 1994 at Tinker Air Force Base and remained in Oklahoma, where he built his life, family, and businesses. Following his military service, Gary became a successful entrepreneur, founding Romriell Investment Company, Rainbow Realty, First Impressions, and SRS.
Beyond his career, Gary was a man of many passions. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing. He was a loyal sports fan, cheering for OU football, the OKC Thunder, and the Denver Broncos. He was especially delighted in the Thunder's recent championship win, watching with great excitement during the playoffs. He also enjoyed comedy and could often be found laughing wholeheartedly at episodes of Two and a Half Men, no matter how many times he had seen them.
Gary loved his country deeply, carrying his devotion to its constitution and freedoms with him throughout his life. He kept a keen interest in politics and current events, often engaging with the news daily.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Romriell; his children Rachele Bromley, Daniel Romriell, Michael Romriell, Gary Romriell, and Derek Romriell; his siblings Alice Robinson, Carol Sweat, Barbara YaYa, Gail Smith, Mark Romriell, and Teresa Lunney; and his grandchildren LeeAnn Golden, Nichole Golden, Joshua Golden, Alyssa Romriell, Destiny Romriell, Brayden Romriell, Isaiah Romriell, Alexis Romriell, and Gaige Romriell.
