Lois Card Obituary

Lois C. Card, a life-long resident of Pittsfield, passed on August 7th surrounded by family, at her home following a brief illness. She was born on April 21, 1939, at home, the daughter of George and Dollie (Burdick) Viner.

A career insurance industry associate, Lois worked for several insurance brokers and agencies, notably Berkshire Mutual, Nationwide Insurance and the former Colt Insurance Agency, all in Pittsfield. She was the proudest of her work in the school department as a teacher's aide at the former West Side Community and Capeless Elementary schools. She was a lover of music, enjoyed Karaoke and most of all doing arts and crafts with her grandchildren. Lois enjoyed the love of family and friends with whom she visited and traveled to see often.

Her late husband, Kenneth U. Card, passed away suddenly 29 years ago after 19 years of marriage. Together, they shared their love of holidays and gift giving with their family.

Lois was an exceptional baker which she shared with her children and grandchildren. She spent countless hours making her many varieties of cookies for her family, always with at least one child by her side.

She is survived by 5-children, Kimberley L. Borden (Bill), Paul J. Aldam (Alicia), James J. Aldam, David A. Wick, all of Pittsfield and Mark E. Aldam (Angela) of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. She leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and cousin Rockwell Viner who she grew up with and thought of as a brother. She also leaves her constant and loyal companion, her dog Cocoa. She was predeceased by her siblings Gloria Corbett, Dianne Ameen, George and June Viner.

To commemorate her 85th birthday, 30 of her family members gathered at Proprietors in Pittsfield last spring to celebrate life with Lois.

Lois will be remembered by those who knew her well as a fierce protector of her family and close friends, rising to every occasion in support of her loved ones.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral home services will be held, Friday, August 15, 2025 at 1 p.m. at Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
