Lois Marie Ratliff-Lewis-Horn was born on June 10, 1933, in Hough, Texas County, Oklahoma, to parents Emey Mae Lemon-Ratliff and Simpson Archelous Ratliff. She peacefully departed this life on August 26, 2025, to be with her Lord and Savior in her heavenly home. In 1951, Lois met and married Francis Eugene Horn, a sergeant in the Air Force, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Their marriage was a loving partnership of 34 years and blessed them with four sons: Gary Lee, born in 1952; Steven Eugene, born in 1953; Jesse Elbert, born in 1957; and Darrell Ray, born in 1967. As an Air Force family, the Horns lived in numerous states, including Texas, Oklahoma, California, Michigan, and Missouri, before settling in El Reno, Oklahoma in 1971. Lois dedicated many years to serving her community. She was a life member of Parkview Hospital Auxiliary (later Mercy Hospital) before its demolition. Her commitment to service was recognized in 1998 when she was nominated by Parkview as the American Association of University Women's Woman of the Year. She also served as president of the Mother's Club for the Order of DeMolay, C.E. Hobart Chapter in El Reno and was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association and AARP. Faith was a cornerstone of Lois's life. She became a member of the First Baptist Church in Guymon, Oklahoma, in November 1955. After moving to El Reno, she joined the First Baptist Church, where she served in various capacities, including outreach leader and secretary, and lent her voice to the senior choir. More recently, she found fellowship and community at New Hope Baptist Church in El Reno. Lois was a devoted mother and actively involved in her sons' lives. She served as a Cub Scout Den Mother for all four boys, leading dens in Enid, Oklahoma; Battle Creek, Michigan; and El Reno, Oklahoma. Lois was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Francis Eugene Horn; her parents, Emey Mae Silsbee and Simpson Ratliff; half-brothers Daniel Ratliff and Thomas Ratliff; her stepfather, Herman Silsbee; and her brother-in-law, Ray Odell. She is survived by her sister, Lucille Odell of Lindsay, Oklahoma; half-sister Barbara Thompson and her husband, Phil, of Enumclaw, Washington; her sons, Gary Horn and his wife, Gayle, of Austin, Texas; Steven Horn of Montana; Jesse Horn and his wife, Sheri, of Midwest City, Oklahoma; and Darrell Horn and his wife, Christy, of Guthrie, Oklahoma. Lois was blessed with eight grandchildren: Jennifer Horn-Tate, David Brooks and his wife, Diana Horn, Victoria Horn-Oxnard, Crystal Hoover and her husband, Justin, Penny Horn, Allana Melick Horn, Brian Horn and his wife, Lindsey, and Brandon Horn. She also leaves behind twelve great-grandchildren: Rustin Hoover, Rhys Hoover, Ryder Hoover, Seth Warren, Kylie Warren, Ayden Warren, Avery Bresler, Gwen Tate, Lucius Horn, Paul Henry Oxnard, Lexi Melick, and Penelope Horn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice, in Lois's memory. Services will be held at New Hope Baptist Church in El Reno on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Oakland-Knowles Cemetery near Crescent, Oklahoma, under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home in El Reno.
