Lois Krutsch Obituary

Lois Rae Krutsch (née Babcock), 92, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025. Lois lived a full and vibrant life, marked by independence, generosity, and a passion for family, nature, and animals.

Born and raised in Detroit, Lois married her childhood sweetheart, Charles "Chuck" Krutsch, and together they shared a romantic and joyful marriage. Every afternoon before Chuck returned home from work, Lois would transform from busy mother to loving partner-applying a touch of eyeshadow, mascara, and lipstick, adjusting her hair, and greeting him with the same sparkle that first brought them together.

Lois loved dogs, especially dachshunds, was an accomplished gardener, and traveled throughout Europe. She cultivated lush green spaces, appreciated a glass of wine on a sunny day, and found joy in exploring quaint villages, craggy mountains, the West Coast, and northern Michigan. She was whip-smart, well-read, elegant and stylish, artistic, and known for her dry sense of humor and flair for entertaining.

Her legendary lasagna recipe, made with pepperoni instead of Italian sausage, has become a cherished tradition passed down through two generations. Lois also had a penchant for historical novels and gave generously to dog rescue organizations, veterans' associations, and local firefighter funds.

Resilient, stoic, calm, and engaged in life, she left an indelible mark on her four children, who will forever treasure her memory and the values she instilled.

Surviving Lois are her children:

• Cheryl McJennet

• Charles Krutsch, Jr. (Kim)

• Kathy Bilitzke (Denny)

• Karen Krutsch

Her grandchildren:

• Audrey McJennet, Ashley Whitmore, Alex Krutsch, Erica Krutsch, Donald Krutsch, Erin Carpenter, and Kelly Kerby

And her great-grandchildren:

• Isla, Cora, Amelia, Reid, and Sebastian

She is also survived by her beloved sister Jane Rayles, nephew Mark Laubert, and nieces Mary Jane Sawdon and Patty Bilyeu.

Lois's soulmate, Charles Krutsch, preceded her in death in 1978. Reunited at last, may their spirits journey together in peace and love.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 15, 11:30AM, at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home (Vasu, Rodgers & Connell Chapel), 32515 Woodward Ave., Royal Oak, 48073. Visitation begins at 10AM. Burial to follow at Acacia Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Forgotten Harvest, or the Michigan Animal Rescue League.
