Lois Larson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home - Iron Mountain on Dec. 27, 2025.
Lois C. Larson, 98, of Iron Mountain, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Freeman's Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in Kingsford.

She was born July 28, 1927, in Iron Mountain, Michigan, daughter of the late Curt and Lorraine (Yuhasey) Witte. She graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1945 and took a position at Lake States Oil. On February 2, 1947, she married the love of her life, Robert F. Larson.

Lois was a devoted and longtime member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Iron Mountain and a proud member of Eastern Star Chapter No. 44. An enthusiastic golfer, she achieved a cherished hole-in-one at Oak Crest Golf Course. She was renowned for her exceptional baking, her beautiful gardens, and her love of the outdoors. Lois also enjoyed lively card games and, together with Robert, traveled extensively throughout the United States, spending many happy winters in Florida.

Above all, family was Lois's greatest joy. She treasured every moment spent with her loved ones and leaves behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and unwavering devotion.

A dedicated community volunteer, Lois gave generously of her time at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center and Woodland Elementary School, where she assisted in her granddaughter's classroom. She also spent many hours helping make delicious pasties at both the Breitung Senior Center and the Masonic Lodge.

Lois is survived by her son, Dale (Carol) Larson; her grandchildren, Sarah (Tim) Wenzel, Amy Sand, Carlene Larson, and Abby (Sam) Smith; eight great-grandchildren, Kate, Jane, and Claire Wenzel, Brianna Jarvis, Madeline and Avalyn Cecilio and Collin and Courtney Smith.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Larson; her daughters, Kathy Larson and Lynn Ann (David) Sand; and her cherished dog, Meggie.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Reverend David Johnson. Burial will take place at Quinnesec Cemetery at a later date.
