Lois E. Murphy

It is with great sorrow our mother, Lois E. (Harrington) Murphy, of Buzzards Bay, passed away on November 23, 2025 at the age of 93. She was the daughter of the late Beulah (Hatfield) and Guy E. Harrington, Sr.

Lois was born and raised in Hodgdon, Maine. After graduating high school she went on to nursing school in Bangor, Maine where she then became a registered nurse moving to Boston and working at Boston Lying In {Brigham and Womens}and later working at local hospitals.. Lois married Robert B. Murphy on March 16, 1956 and the two settled in Carver, Massachusetts to raise their family.

As a teenager, Lois spent time picking potatoes on farms in Hodgdon. She also enjoyed knitting and sewing, making many patchwork quilts. She was a talented gardener and had many vegetable gardens and also raised many animals. Lois loved people and was known for her hugs. She held a strong faith and was a member of the former Assembly of God church in South Carver, MA.

Lois was the loving wife of the late Robert B. Murphy. Mother of Lawrence E. Murphy of Middletown, CT, Kristin K. Briggs and her late husband Charles of Buzzards Bay, Kelly S. Murphy and his wife Kim of Exeter, NH, Andrew P. Murphy and his wife Kathleen of Wildwood, FL, and the late Robrt B. Murphy, Jr. Grandmother of Sheryl Briggs, Charles Briggs V., Charles Briggs-Santos, Theresa Santos-Palmer, Jenna Murphy, Elizabeth Canuel, Meredith Murphy, Scott Murphy, and the late Clyde Jeffrey Keene. Great-grandmother of Kaitlyn, Tyler, and Jazmyn Santos, Jamison, Juliette, Jaxson, Kyla, Dyllen, Addyson, Mia, Ethan, Landon, Devin, Cameron, Mateo and Sophia. She is also survived by several step-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Sister of the late Jean (Harrington) Little and Guy Harrington, Jr. Lois is survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers you can send a donation to the Alzheimer's Association or plant a tree.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, December 9th from 4:00PM-6:00PM at Chapman Funerals & Cremations – Wareham, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28). A funeral home service will begin at 6:00PM. Burial will take place the following morning Wednesday, December 10th at 11:30 at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
