Lois Pilla Obituary

Lois worked in various accounting positions at Ortho Pharmaceutical Corporation in Raritan, NJ for 27 years, retiring in 1993. Prior to that, she held secretarial positions for the Bridgewater-Raritan School District and at the General Services Administration in Belle Mead, NJ.
As a member of Fourth Reformed Church in Somerville, and later Bradley Gardens Reformed Church, Lois enjoyed family dinners and children's programs in the church's parish hall. She cherished her family, and spent vacations with them at the Jersey shore every summer. Lois also enjoyed baking, knitting, bowling, crossword puzzles and reading.
In addition to her parents, Lois was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Nicholas Pilla; two brothers, Stanley Born and Richard Born; two sisters, Beverly Norris and Janet Bonser; and a grandson, Matthew Zandanel.
Lois is survived by her children; David Pilla (Rita), Sheri Zandanel and Lauren Brill (Stephen); grandchildren Eryn, Megan and Cassandra Pilla, Nicholas and Jessica Zandanel, Jamie and Joseph Cavallo; great-grandchildren Aniella and Luciano Liccardi; her sister, Corinne (Richard) Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
Lois will be remembered as a caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who spent as much time as possible with her family, celebrating holidays and birthdays or just relaxing with home-baked cookies and a cup of coffee. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of life visitation will be 10am-12pm Tuesday, July 1, 2025 with services at 12 noon at Bruce VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 N. Gaston Ave, Somerville. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Tewksbury.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Somerville Rescue Squad, 21 Park Ave, Somerville, NJ 08876. To send condolences to the family, visit brucecvanarsdalefuneralhome.com.
