Sapp-Lois Catherine "Cathy" Sapp, age 83, of
Starke, Florida, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on April 12, 2025, at ET York Care Hospice Center in Gainesville, Florida. Cathy was born on November 3, 1941, to the late Lloyd Cecil Padgett and Mary Estelle Waters Padgett. Cathy was raised in Brooker, Florida and relocated to Starke as a teenager. After graduating from Bradford High School in June of 1959, she started her first career at Camp Blanding as a Secretary. She proudly served for a few years until embarking into her longtime career as a Purchasing Agent with the Department of Corrections where she was employed for over 30 years. Cathy met her best friend and forever companion, Eldon Rudolph "Rudy" Sapp when he returned from basic training the summer of 1960. They were inseparable and were happily married on March 9, 1961. Shortly after their marriage, Rudy and Cathy were stationed in Albany, Georgia then California before returning home to Bradford County. They were blessed with 59 amazing years of marriage, 2 beautiful children, 4 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Cathy was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend who cherished spending time with her family. Cathy was an amazing baker and loved baking with her grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing in her younger years and after retirement dabbled in crafts. She was talented at drawing and painting. Cathy had a passion for shopping and could have made it a sport. She enjoyed attending Kingsley Lake Baptist Church where she was a longtime member as well as, traveling, camping, and taking trips to the beach and mountains. Cathy was full of life, lived to the fullest and treasured each moment. She was certainly greatly loved and will be deeply missed. Cathy was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Eldon Rudolph "Rudy" Sapp; son, David Morgan Sapp; brothers, Infant Padgett, Lloyd Cauthron Padgett, Kenneth Cecil Padgett, James William Cecil Padgett, and Calvin Elwood Padgett; and sister, Annette Estelle Padgett Norman.
Cathy is survived by her daughter, Rhonda (Chris) Douglas of
Starke, FL; brothers-in-law, Gerald Norman and Joe (Carolyn) Sapp; sisters-in-law, Kay Padgett and Sue Padgett; 4 grandchildren, Joshua (Jennifer) Sapp, Elizabeth (Matt) Hatcher, Zachary Varnes, and Hannah (Jarred) Jones; and 5 great-grandchildren, Emma Ratliff, Levi Sapp, Evelyn Sapp, Ethan Sapp, and Charlotte Jones.
A Celebration of Cathy's Life will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 10:00 am at Archie Tanner Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Rodriguez officiating. Interment will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 2:00 pm. Arrangements are under the care and direction of V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services and Archie Tanner Memorial Chapel,
