On October 2, 2022, Lois Jean Smith left her earthly body to join those that left before her. She was 90 years old. Lois was born in Bruno, Arkansas, to Harvey and Mildred Keeter McEntire with her identical twin, Joyce.
Lois met and married Willie Wood. They had two children, Linda, and Mike. They spent many summer vacations visiting the Washington coast. They loved their Friday night bowling league and Saturday poker games with friends. They enjoyed square dancing, and she had the beautiful outfits to prove it.
Lois later married Mickey Smith. They loved to horseback ride and spend time in the mountains. They also traveled south in the winter and enjoyed the warm weather golfing and spending time with family. They were married many years before his passing.
Lois had a strong work ethic. She began working at the age of 12 and continued working until she retired at the age of 67. Lois worked at Roche Fruit for 27 years as a supervisor and was a great asset to the Roche family business.
Lois enjoyed family, golfing, crocheting, and gardening. Her yard was her pride and joy, and she once won an award for the best looking yard in the city of Yakima. More than anything, she loved her grandchildren.
Lois was loved by all who met and got to know her, and her great sense of humor brought laughter to those around her. She will be forever in our hearts and greatly missed.
Lois is preceded in death by her first husband, Willie Wood, and second husband, Mickey Smith, her parents, Harvey and Mildred McEntire, her two children, Linda and Mike, and numerous other relatives.
Lois is survived by her daughter-in-law, Suzanna (Jake) Wood-Dugan, and grandchildren, Shani Shorter, Staci (Rodger) Hardy, J.J. Wood, Jimmy (Shelby) Wood, Bradli (Amy) Anderson, and five great-grandchildren, Hayli (Riki), Nash, Jake and Liam.
A private ceremony for family and friends will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made payable to a charity of your choice and sent in care of Brookside Funeral Home (PO Box 1267, Moxee, WA 98936), who is caring for the family. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.brooksidefuneral.com. Click to view LIVE service
