Obituary of Lois I. Vital

Lois I. Vital, 90, of Lancaster, PA went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday evening, August 24, 2025 at home. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Clarence C. and Mary A. Greenawalt Hess. She was the wife of the late James R. Vital, Sr. for 67 years prior to his passing in 2020.

Lois was a former member of The Worship Center in Leola where she served on the greeter committee. A homemaker, she was a 1952 graduate of McCaskey High School in Lancaster. Earlier in her life, she was employed as a housekeeper by Eden Resort in Lancaster. In addition to reading and gardening, she enjoyed traveling, caring for pets, and solving jigsaw puzzles. She also collected angel and cat figurines and was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan. Most who knew her believed her to be the kindest, most nurturing person they had ever met.

She is survived by two daughters, Denise M., wife of John Boyer, of Lancaster and Vicky J., wife of David Riley of Ocala, FL; a son, James R., Jr., husband of Philip Greco; four grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a sister-n-law Nikki Hess of Lancaster; and two sisters, Judith A. Cooper of Lititz and Jean M., wife of Gordon Landis, of Lebanon.

Services are private. Interment will be in Conestoga Memorial Park, Lancaster. The family requests that flowers please be omitted. If desired, contributions may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St, Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
