Lois Ann Watkins, a beloved mother, devoted cook, and avid gardener, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, in Milford, Ohio, at the age of 91. Born on September 18, 1933, in Somerset, Kentucky, Lois brought joy and warmth to all who knew her.
Growing up in the small community of Ferguson, KY, Lois developed a love for family, flowers and raising food that would last a lifetime. After moving her family to the village of Greenhills, OH in 1963, she was a familiar face serving diners at the Village Inn restaurant for several years. Anyone fortunate enough to sit at her table knew they were in for a treat. Lois's personality and cooking always had love as the basic ingredient. Her home cooked special meals became cherished memories for her family.
Lois is survived by four cherished children: Clifford (Patricia) Watkins, Johnny Watkins, (Brenda) Watkins, and Barton (Anne) Watkins, as well as her only daughter, Mitzi (William) Hurt. Grandmother of Erin (Matt) Bausch, David (Tereza) Watkins, Scot (Stephanie) McClendon, Heather (Todd) Daulton, Brian (Laci) Watkins, Misty (Tim) Gilbert and Logan (Bridgette) Hurt. Lois was also "Nana" to 16 great-children. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her children and their families, who will forever treasure the many lessons in love, resilience, and togetherness that she imparted.
When not helping others, Lois found joy in her gardens and canning, nurturing both with care and love. Later she developed remarkable oil painting skills and enjoyed crocheting. She brought beauty into her home and shared it with her family and friends.
A visitation will be held 5 - 7 PM Thursday January 16, 2025 at Evans Funeral Home 741 Center St. Milford, Ohio, where family and friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and love in her honor. Details of the graveside service will be announced shortly, and all who knew her are warmly invited to join in remembering the beautiful spirit of Lois Ann Watkins.
Rest in peace, Lois. Your laughter, your love, and your meals will be missed deeply, but your spirit will forever linger in our hearts and lives.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents Theo & Olive Silvers, her husbands, Leland Watkins and Wilbur Garrett and her son Dana Watkins.
